I fully understand your opinion about the knit tie not being too formal for the rest. But for instance look at Sean Connery in several Bond movies wearing a knit tie (usually navy or black) with a white shirt and a grey or blue suit.
Regardless, the outfit I wore was my interpretation of CBD where I purposely chose to combine the less formal tie with the rest, as it was perfectly suitable for the occasion and environment. I'm quite sure in this day and age, the occasions where this type of combo is not acceptable are rather few in numbers.

Stunning day today here. It is Wellington cup day (horse racing) so I have an afternoon BBQ to attend with friends. Consequently I need a hat!

@jfrater , you'd be right at home at Derby time around here. There must be some kind of horse racing uniform or something. [IMG]

Caustic, would you characterize yourself as more of an acid, or a base?

Haha if that's you you look great! Nice sunglasses! I wish I were going to watch the racing but the BBQ is at least right next door to the park so I'll hear them if nothing else :)

It is me, thanks! Isn't that always how it turns out? You ostensibly go for the racing but the food (and the booze in my case) always seems to steal the show.

@jfrater - love the watch - I have the same Daytona black face/ss bracelet, but yours looks better on a gator strap.

Clags, what would have happened had you merely said that you are wearing a suit because you enjoy it?
I worked as a barman and bouncer through college and grad school so I was involved in many drunken disagreements, but the closest to your experience that I encountered was wearing an England rugby jersey in a Welsh bar during the five nations, and it's fair to say that any answer given was going to meet the same outcome in that case.

Thanks :) I am crazy about gator on watches. Actually yesterday I bought my very first non-gator watch - grey suede. All my others are shades of brown gator and one black for wearing with black shoes.
