I've noticed that a number of the regular contributors on this board have hot wives/partners.

Just goes to show: dressing well really does get you the girl.

Crusty, does this strategy work for the other team too?

In certain (though not all) cases, yes it does. It depends entirely on whether the gentleman in question likes his partner for the body under the clothes, for the clothes themselves, or for the person inside the body, as reflected by the clothes. There are large numbers of men who want men only under the first circumstance; some who want them only under the second, and, but happily for me, there are some who want them under the third, which is how I have my current partner.

Cheers. I put mine on the outside because it's more comfortable.

A poor analogy in my mind. A clip-on tie is faux. For suspenders, they're doing the same thing, but the means of fastening is different. Like button-fly versus zipper. Both the clip and the buttons allow the suspenders to hold up your pants.
    Still nope. It's the sweater.

    Getting better, Helden

I use clip on suspenders when I wear them. Mostly because I don't want to bother with putting buttons on all my pants. It isn't like anyone sees them (I never take my jacket off when wearing suspenders)

@sugarbutch Your analogy can also be extended to justify clip-on bow ties in the same vein as long as the objective is to have it stay on your collar. Different method but same objective. It's just what it is...

@An Acute Style pants and sweater combo too busy.

Not quite. A clip-on bow tie is fundamentally different than a hand-tied tie. It's not even a tied tie, typically. Just some folded-over cloth with a band around the middle. Clip-on suspenders versus buttoned suspenders is like snaps versus buttons. Also, suspenders are functional unlike ties, and a clip-on suspender very clearly satisfies the functional requirements...

Thanks again to everyone for liking my "Now And Then" pictures. I have worn the same clothes (that I got at Brooks Brothers in the sixties and seventies) all of my life.

In the Fall of 1965, when I was working for the Santa Fe Railway in San Francisco, I got a brown herringbone tweed suit (which Brooks Brothers called a "Sport Suit" because it had patch pockets, welted edges, and lapped seams) at the Brooks Brothers store on Post and Grant in San Francisco. Today was a cold and damp day here in Los Angeles (like almost every day in San Francisco) so I wore the brown tweed suit today. (Yes, the pants are too long since some of my discs have deteriorated over the years and I am now a little bit shorter than I was in 1965).

All Brooks Brothers except Allen-Edmonds shoes earlier today......

Wearing the same suit on the train somewhere north of Oakland CA on a cold and damp day in February 1969, during the brief period of time that I had a mustache.

All Brooks Brothers except Johnson & Murphy shoes February 1969.......

For those who might be wondering, this is what the cold and damp day somewhere in Northern California in February 1969 looked like outside.......
