I like that tie alot. it is a really nice goldrod color where most yellow ties are too yellow.

but i think the white square is very stark in this combo and my eye is drawn directly to it.

Thanks. What colour would you have gone for in the square?

Btw, it's cream but I don't think that affects what you've written.

Very nice, especially the jacket is great. Not a fan of the tie though, too narrow and the burgundy clashes with the red in the jacket imho.
Four pattern bingo.
SF Family: Hober (tie) Wang (square)
Bingo indeed! When you don't even notice that there are four patterns there, you've done it right. I would have still gone with plain pants though. But I'm incredibly boring, so... :nodding:
New shirt with bigger spread and a new old Brooks Bros tie from ebay - doing a puckering thing with the silk that I haven't had to deal with before. Will try a looser knot to see if that helps. Also tried to do a linen, blue-edged square with a puff approach. All on the standard-issue navy suit.

That's a beautiful tie, are the flowers woven or printed? Either way, very nice pattern, scaling and colors.

@Sander thanks for the feedback but I don't mind the matchiness between the burgundy and the red, it's very ok in my world. Analogous colors isn't bad if tone and texture are varied. But the tie is skinny at 3.25 inches when compared to a 4.25 inch lapel but I'd still rock it again. :D

Thanks

Picking one of the colors in the tie would be a basic choice (lighter blue or red is it?). A more saturated rust might be nice, but oh, you are in spring now?

Maybe this one, judiciously puffed in the middle perhaps (just happen to have this one handy in my photos). Lighter color speaks to spring, so long as the beige doesn't clash with the yellow in the tie (similar colors but in a non complementary sort of way). Anyway, something along these lines..thinking out loud here.

Edit: SB's square possibly? SB, nice hank, where is it from?

@jcmeyer
nice tie! I love some of those old bb neats!

Thanks, RTC and Sander! The flowers are printed and the tie has clearly been well enjoyed prior to me since the fabric on the knot area is worn and a bit dirty - didn't notice it till the pic and hoping dry cleaning does the trick.

I also have no clue how old it really is since I got it on ebay - here's the back label if anyone can discern the era during which this label was used or why it was printed in England.

And thanks for the thumbs, all ya'll doods!

BB sources their ties from all over the place. I've seen US, England, and Italy mostly.

I think that's a vintage bb. 80s maybe?

I think it'll knot better with a few wears, but the dimple is never as good as their newer one. I think it's because of the interlining.

So true but I was just so lazy to learn to tie one. I looked up so many tutorials on how to self-tie a bow tie and still could not get it right. Reason I opted for an already made one.

This is the video that I learned from. It's the best one out there.
