I may have swung too far with this one. I think this would be better with a different vest, but I still like it as a holiday look. I really like the socks and sweater together.

The Los Angeles Union Station Christmas Tree has been banished from the South Patio, which is now permanently sealed off, and made to stand in a corner (was it bad?) in what I call The Great Hall Of Abolished Jobs where once hundreds of Clerks and dozens of Exempts worked.

If you look carefully you can see me in this picture.

In the South Patio, where it has always been, last Christmas.

You felt it yourself, the different pieces don't work well together: on one side you have jacket, trousers, shirt and tie, and on the other sweater and socks which clash with the former ones.

Sometimes less is more.

A squirrel and me in Palisades Park in Santa Monica CA.

Brooks Brothers camelhair jacket, L L Bean blue OCBD shirt and grey corduroy trousers, Vineyard Vines Christmas tie, J Crew Fair Isle sweater vest, Squarextraordinaire pocket square, and Allen-Edmonds shoes.

Was on the way to Ye Olde King's Head for the Christmas Tea.

It says "Eat, Drink, And Be Merry" on the Christmas Cracker. Took it home with me to use for a Christmas decoration.

While on the subject of Christmas decorations, something about the Christmas decorations by my table reminded me of the WWII song, "We're Going To Hang Out The Washing On The Siegfried Line" but couldn't quite put my finger on what it was.

Sticking with the subject of Christmas decorations, here's Christmas in Santa Monica.

The 3rd Street Promenade Christmas Tree and the "Santa Methica Is Not Safe" sign on on of the many vacant storefronts.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
