I was referring to the contrast with the clothes. I think different shoes would have worked better. These have no place in an outfit with the top half you were wearing. The shoes are black and white. Maximum contrast already. Do you think a lighter pant color would have worked better with the shoes here?
Nice to see you here again. What about some pictures of properly draping, wide leg opening trousers?

I’m going to have to agree with @sugarbutch on this one, i personally think derby’s would be more fitting instead of the loafersI was referring to the contrast with the clothes. I think different shoes would have worked better. These have no place in an outfit with the top half you were wearing.
I know.I wasn't trying to be facetious, I really like Alan's trousers.
Got it. The shirt and pants are both linen. The jacket is madras. I'm not intentionally being obtuse, but what about the top half is out of place to you? The fabric, patterns, colors? When would a pair of shoes like this make sense in your opinion?I was referring to the contrast with the clothes. I think different shoes would have worked better. Declaring my bias up front: I don’t like these shoes. BUT they worked better with one of your black watch fits IIRC and maybe you also wore them with a seersucker fit? Here the warmer colors and lack of any other element that is bright white or black (or even a similarly dark value) leave them out of place.Got it. The shirt and pants are both linen. The top half seems too formal for the bottom half imo, the colour combo is nice on top but a windsor knot and spread collar don't necessarily lend themselves to sockless loafers and linen trousers. I think combined with the fact it looks like the fabrics are quite different, it just doesn't look quite right (but it could be the lighting!)The last few weeks before moving the linen trousers to the back of the closet. Lighting is pretty bad but the shoes are AE burgundy tassel loafers.
