I see that SWD is not giving much love to the New Foo, but I have enjoyed a number of the fits posted post-transformation.

Who knows what he really wears, he never had the guts to post a fit. 😉
Leave the Shantung alone.Lookin' good! Time to give that tie a shave?
Yeah they’re cool aren’t they? I had a similar textured tie bought from an erstwhile SF vendor named Conrad Wu. It was in RAF stripes (burgundy, sky and navy) and great quality but I found myself always reaching for a similar coloured grenadine I have so I sold on the Conrad Wu to an esrstshile board member named @Pliny in Australia who used to post reliably good fit pics but along with the likes of @Threadbearer and many others just dropped off the board over the years. A shame as their contributions are missed.Leave the Shantung alone.
That's not entirely true, though the gentleman in question does post shoe photos in the thread "Rock Your Socks", in which his photos do reveal (albeit from an oblique perspective) his other sartorial choices. He has not, to the best of my knowledge, ever posted photos in this thread.
As for the discussion of style, in hierarchical terms (i.e. good, better, best, or their negative analogs), that was very much the tone that this and other threads took when I started posting on this site in earnest some twelve to fourteen years ago. At its most extreme, some posters took the tone that they were the only true interpreters of the Sartorial Gospels, and all others were lesser beings.
For myself, I see matters sartorial as a form of communication, a visual language that speaks to the viewer, describing the wearer in all his (in this forum, at least) aspects. It's also a language which others can "read", understand, and appreciate.
As for adopting a much simplified style, as Foo has done, that is something that has less appeal to me, not that there is anything wrong with what Foo is wearing, but that, for me, I'm not a minimalist - I like having more design elements with which to play, and, at my age, I need more help disguising my physical shortcomings than a minimalist palette would afford me.
Indeed he never did, but I find his drivel about other people fits tiring. That's not entirely true, though the gentleman in question does post shoe photos in the thread "Rock Your Socks", in which his photos do reveal (albeit from an oblique perspective) his other sartorial choices. Thanks for your reply. I prefer the shantung to be naturally nubby.Lookin' good! Time to give that tie a shave?
The tartan king has mounted his steed for Fall/Winter 2024. 😄Temps have cooled considerably. Feels like fall so I gave my new tartan jeans a go. I like this a lot. Looking forward to wearing these with more tartans in the fall/winter.

Beautiful jacket in a very unique colour, however, I am not really digging the trousers, they are a bit pyjama like with the drawstring front.
Love the tie - is it Polo Ralph Lauren?Temps have cooled considerably. Feels like fall so I gave my new tartan jeans a go. I like this a lot. Looking forward to wearing these with more tartans in the fall/winter.
