I think the boots look pretty good here actually. It's not so incongruent it throws the look off, but stands out in a nice way. imo anyway, I like boots.
have not worn this suit in a while (over a year).. wore it today for the blue brown challenge and a day in the office..its an older model Canali..
I hate them boots with the rest of your stuff and think the boots need to be booted.
Whoa now. Slow it down feller.
I'm biased. I don't like any boots except a handful of chukkas. But the outfit looks great to me.
RTC, not as good as the last, but still quite nice. I dont personally love the pants, and I think they could use to be a little more saturated and less dark, and I dont love the tie in and on itself, ymmv there. I think boots are ok, but those are are a bit too chunky/commando for the rest of the fit, but not egregiously so. And once again, you need better rolls on your OCBDs.
I think you have found a good zone right now as far as colors for you, and a general vibe that suits your personality whilst still being not outlandish. Keep on keepin on. Over time as you accumulate more stuff, and better stuff, but along these lines, you will find yourself in a very good sartorial spot.
Cool as ice, Choco.
Good and restrained as always, but if I were to nitpick: the structure of the tie looks cheap in the close-up; tie bar is too high (doesn't serve any function) and the braces are positioned too close to the center. Maybe you just did this for the challenge? But really, these are tiny complaints.
The tie pattern and shirt check are also of similar scale.
Wore one of my only pre-SF suits today. Everytime I put it on I am remindre by how much better my Suitsupply stuff fits, but I really like the fabric, so once or twice a year I take pity on it - always accompanied by the same comment from my wife " oh, someone is really wearing checks today" which is said in a not altogether positive tone...
This is the second time this week that I've seen someone say that a high tie bar serves no purpose, but that makes no sense. Even where he has it, the bar keeps the tie lined up and will keep from dangling if you lean over with your jacket open. That's two purposes by my count.
Those clip-on 'spenders, tho... Choc, you need to move the clips just to the outside of each belt loop. They should clip on to the waistband roughly where your crease would terminate if extended to the top of the pants.
I too have entered the challenge!
This^ and for that replaced with another pic taken where I had the suspenders more spread apart.. Thanks guys!
Isn't a lower tiebar less dandy? Where I wear it you can barely see it with your jacket closed, so it's inherently not as flashy. That's where it's original placement is also supposed to be, making it historically correct, if you care about those things. It's meant to keep the whole tie flat against your shirt, not just the top part.
Anyway, moving it up so that it can always be seen seems more dandy to me, but I guess it depends on what you mean by 'dandy'.
