I've started to go back into the office more regularly. Oddly enough, that means less time for posting (gotta catch that train!). But it also means more outerwear!

Not that I want them to win, but my Euro 2020 prediction has France winning the finals against Croatia. Portugal manages to get lucky (nothing out of the ordinary) and make it to the second round with only 2 points in the group stage; but not to worry, they get destroyed in the Best of 16 alongside my childhood home country of Spain. Toughest encounters I have is England - France in Quarters and Croatia - Netherlands in Semis. Belgium gets third.

(Actually it’s not bad - better than I might have guessed!?)
Yes. I think the should is what kept me from trying it for so long. I knew I was meeting up with some people in the park today and planed to take off the tie anyway in the afternoon. Imagine this without a tie. That's how I wore it most of the day.

I think this sort of iteration is the only type that I’ve seen that I like, some madras and a dark navy knit or grenadine tie.

Same. That's exactly what I was going for. I think a dark brown knit tie would have worked here too.

Yeah you have enough earth tones in there I think a dark chocolate brown would look good as well, but navy was still the best choice.

Yeah after posting it got me thinking about our opposing views on style. Leaving aside my dislike of three press twos and your dislike of hard threes. And my devotion to flat front strides while you seem to have gone all-in on pleats (Urgh!?) ...

As a teacher you’re in jacket and tie five or six days a week so you have the means, motive and opportunity to mix and match, play around, experiment, trial and error etc as much as you wish, with maybe a secondary aim to not appear boring by wearing the same gear in class repeatedly.

I either work from home - for which I do not ‘dress up’ - or else I travel and go to a hospital one or two days a week. Repeat visits to the same place are few and far between so I don’t have to worry much about being seen in the same kit over and over. My aim then is to come up with the best accessories I can think of to compliment a certain suit or jacket, and once I hit upon my personal idea of a winning combination the whole outfit is more or less set in stone for me. Any experimentation happens mostly in my head prior to a purchase, and if I’m thinking about buying something I’m thinking about what shirt / tie / socks / shoes etc will go with it before I decide to pull the trigger.

I’ve got rid of some stuff as I’m travelling less these days but still have about twenty odd jacket combos and ten work suit outfits. I’ve cut back on acquisitions a lot this year as I just don’t see me getting a lot of use out of some new purchase. Like the watch owner who has twenty watches - nineteen of them are sat in a drawer on any given day!

Just thought it was interesting the diverse approach to style and acquisitions. If we ever see an end to the plague and I make it back to NYC we can discuss this further over bait and lash!
