I've been moving away from 100% silk and more towards ties that have at least some wool component to them, even if it is relatively low. I find that, for me at least, they generally produce a better knot and tend to stay looking neat throughout the day without adjustment. Maybe it's just me, or maybe I'm not buying the right ties, but a significant percentage of my 100% silk ties begin slipping down from the collar and tend to look untidy after a few hours of decidedly low-impact activities. Interestingly enough, despite reports of its demise, my Brooks Bros. 100% silk ties tend to do very well compared to the ones from other makers.Wool ties aren't getting put away just yet.
