Tie and trousers all too dressy for this coat, shoes might work with the coat but need a more casual trouser. (IMHO)

Take a look at some of these fits that sucessfully incorporate a chore coat:

The last full official week of summer calls for a shantung and seersucker combination.

Sir,
Why would you wear a tie to the swap-meet?
While on the subject of wearing ties at swap meets, here's a picture taken last June. Was in the area (where I hadn't been since 1976) so stopped to see what this place looked like inside since in the late sixties-early seventies it was one of the branch stores of a retail chain I worked at.

Used to go to all the stores around once a week and have lunch with the manager or assistant manager and talk with people.

Still remember sitting in the Personnel Manager's office talking with her when there was one of the many aftershocks from the 1971 earthquake.

The same escalators that were there when the store opened in 1964 were still there and were still working.

Belatedly, yesterday's outfit: The Hounds of Summer.

.

In today's class, we started on Huxley. Students started making connections between the predestined embryos in the (creepy) first chapter and their own lives: namely, that they've been led to believe that a four-year college is the "only" path available to them. I responded using the metaphor of the fun house mirror: dystopia requires distortion of known realities in order to produce a paradigm shift. This, in turn, leads to the characteristic anxiety of dystopian fiction.

.

Doomscrolling. Alas.

Stay safe. Stay sane. Speak truth to power.
