@Murlsquirl I don't often wear ties or pocket squares to my office or meetings because the environment / clientele doesn't really appreciate or understand the effort. So I dress enough just to make myself appear as a boss, but not so much as to make my staff uncomfortable or make myself out to be "showy." So basically, what I'm really saying is, I know exactly what you mean when you say you don't want too much attention on yourself.

That's one sweet suit Sugarbutch.

I am getting a double breasted flannel suit on my coming trip to Hong Kong, and I was going to get it in mid gray, but it's sooo tempting to get one in charcoal chalkstripe... I'll be good and wait until some other time though.

Actually since I'm talking about my wardrobe deficiency, do you think ticket + hacking pockets is "too fashiony" for a city suit (navy and gray glen plaid). I'm getting the suit with peak lapels and pagoda too, so it sounds like it'd be a world of mess, but I really do personally like the look. I can tell that it's not the most SF approved idea though. I know a lot think hacking + ticket are for country/informal situations due to the origin, and that clashes with peak lapels a lot but, idk, I've also read that some people don't mind, including apparently manton, so I don't know what to think.

Keep it simple. Build your wardrobe around simple. Simple is versatile. And after you know every inch of simple, slowly build from there.

Thanks for the comments and thumbs! The suit is Polo sourced from eBay. My tailor did a great job taking about .75" out of each shoulder. It was a gamble, but it was either do that or send it on to Spoo and hope not to take too bad a loss.

Polo suits are often amongst the best ebay deals out there - I got a beautiful bargain navy pinstripe recently. My tailor has done the trousers, and I am just wondering whether to risk the jacket with him or go further afield...

I really think the flaps out on this jacket would benefit you more than tucked in. As they stand, they look droopy, almost as jetted pockets with the seams opened can look after awhile.

Second, I wouldn't worry too much about drawing attention to your hips or advertising them to be wider with the flaps out, because your chest and shoulders are so broad, no flap hip accentuation will occur. This will also keep your hips in proportion with those said shoulders and chest, but maybe its the angle of the photo drawing me to this wrong conclusion. Either way, that jacket is killer, as is the tie.
