You should never be happy to see a weak, floppy, floating, sad collar, that looks bad. The fact that you may dislike spread collars is regardless. This collar is bad, no need to play it up just because it veers towards being a point collar.

As a matter of fact, it weakness your argument. If you want to rage against spread, find a point that looks good. When you manage to point one out that is bad, it is contrary to the argument you are making.

FWIW - Most of my collars are medium/semi spread. I have but a few heard/extreme/cut-a-way spreads, and I never wear them with a tie. They look bad on me.

Give what a rest? Pointing out where you made a fatal mistake in your logic?

How did I get dragged into this a day later? FWIW, the floppiness is what I like about it and why I went without stays.

    :(

Sorry to drag you through the mud, I actually hesitated saying anything, but I knew you could handle it. In any case, that is a bad collar, bro.

But it's so casual and louche. So filled with nonchalant whimsy!

For realz - not a problem. I'm going to stick with digging it, but maybe I'll put some stays in it next time and see if it gets a different result.

I didn't really notice it before as a bad collar, but what I think is needed to make a point collar work is both a bit of tie space (otherwise the the tie is just swallowed by the points) and longer collar points, so they are still finishing near or under the lapels. Something like this -

Is it a non fused collar? I actually like it as well, which is rare because it does lean towards point rather than spread.

If you like it, keep wearing it.

It is to be quite warm this afternoon in NYC, with a chance of thunderstorms, and considering my 13-hours work day yesterday, I need to wear something cool and comfortable, hence today's attire.

Suit, shirt, tie, PS - BB
    Shoes - J & M
