Today's choice of attire was determined by the Friday Challenge. The theme is "Laurence Fellows", the men's fashion illustrator active during the 30's and 40's. The assignment is to take one of his illustrations as an inspiration for one's attire. Below is my interpretation.

Suit & shirt - BB MTM
    Tie & PS - BB
    Cufflinks - British Museum
    Vintage watch chain
    Shoes - C & J
    Topcoat - Turnbull & Asser
Hat - Selentino, via JJ Hat Center
    Scarf - Paul Stuart

A bit out of the norm today. Colors don't show it but this is actually a suit.

    Thanks!

Agreed! Lots of lessons learned, and more to come of course.

Dressing on a thursday like it's a friday... Any thoughts on the "older guy" style? It's quite different from my usual look.

    That suit!!!
Would you share the cloth? If I go bespoke someday, that's a winner.

How is this an "older guy" style in your mind?

I'd say because of the thicker wool and the kind of vintage mix of colors and patterns of the cloth.
That's only my personal feeling, of course.

I find @Sycsyc outfit very similar in feel to Roy Al's fits and slightly reminisciant of yours and non suited Cleav. It's mostly the sport coat that does it for me. I'm not saying this is "older style", but those names came to mind when I saw the fit. I think a different square would have been better. Burgundy would go great with that plaid.

    Good evening,

@upr_crust Nicely done in comparison to the illustration sir! If I may add, oddly enough you and @Roy Al look quite intimidating without glasses! (I'm sorry if the adjective is wrong, I could not find an appropriate English translation for what I needed). Conclusively though, I like your hat of choice sir @Roy Al .

Trying out one pattern again. I had just recently got this new tie and this new shirt too. My first foray into buying a non slim fit shirt, and if I may say; I am really liking the larger cuffs and the less restrictive fit the shirt has on me. Shoes are black derby boots.

@Andy57 Wonderful ensemble! I really like how you mixed that reddish-brown tie in the outfit with the grey DB. Looks fantastic, not to mention that hat.

    Thank you,

    Hal

    Thanks!

    Wonderful, as always!

It's a Fox Brothers flannels from their normal patterns bunch. But honestly, I can recommend this cloth only if you already have 20 suits, because most accessories just don't match.

Perhaps the adjective for which you were looking was "formidable", which in English has some of the same sense as "intimidating". Now you know why I wear glasses and smile in my photos :satisfied:.
