1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

That waistcoat looks sharp with those lapels sir! Would have never thought an ascot of that colour would go with a suit that colour and you pull it off quite well if I may say. Good to see you and the missus had a good time.

Interesting, before I started thinking more about what I wore, I assumed slubs were A/W material for the very reason you believe they are not. To me, A/W is about texture, roughness, durability (think tweed, corduroy, flannel etc) and summer is about light, smooth fabrics. Both preconceptions can be challenged and dismissed, of course, but my point is there is no inherent reason why slubs should be reserved for warm weather (at least to the layperson).

As for the slub/chalkstripe incongruency, I could try and spin a line about the connection between warm weather, lightweight flannels (as 11oz presumably was back in the day) and sporting stripes (as per the Vox congruency guide), but I think that might be a long bow to draw :)

I don't think I've seen another flannel suit in my office, let alone the entire area I work in, so I suspect if I'm trying to fly under the radar a slubby tie is the least of my worries when wearing a three-piece, chalkstripe flannel suit.

That's a silly assumption. You know as well as I do that I often wear ties that are not "SF approved", however you might define that. Yet I still think Hal's is ugly. It's one thing to like a tie that I don't like, but it's another thing to suggest that all who don't like it are kool-aid drinkers.

It really is a hideous tie, though.

Michael, have to say, your picture really helps to prove that "fit" is far more important than "quality". Although your shirt collar leaves a bit to be desired, the outfit, in all, looks fantastic. Very smart. MSRP of your whole outfit is ~$1,000. You really help to rebut any argument that you have to spend x or y to look great.

You may say, and I thank you. This was, by far, our best trip to Napa and Sonoma, which is only two hours from us. We were there for three days this week and had a refreshing, if wine-imbued, break.

It's that time of year, the light, the light - so dark in the morning - have to wait until after work before photo... ant by then it's almost too bright.

I love this, but I could never pull this off, which probably makes me love it more.

And great timing on the shot... getting the plane in there.
