A few years ago Lagerfeld lost a lot of weight (around 100 lbs) on doctor's orders and the collars are worn to cover either the resulting sag of neck skin (think turkey) or botched plastic surgery to remedy said neck skin; nobody knows which. That, according to one of his longtime muses.

Sorry for poor lighting in top block close up. Hopefully made up for it with mini stitch feet in bottom block close up. :)

Looks good, but those lapels would look better on Baby Stitch.

Love the baby feet, tie, and suit, but don't like the stripes on stripes here. Looks super conservative in a good way otherwise. What's up with baby's right big toe? [IMG]

That tie is awesome. I like the stripes on stripes here, but I'm don't think this pocket square goes well with the outfit.

Eidos is all Italian, but this fit looks so American with the khaki pants and pennies. Looks cool enough though.

Interesting. The huge scale variation between tie and shirt, and the different shades of blue, make it real nice for me, but ymmv on that I guess.

She is 3, so her nail painting activity is not always quite on mark, or complete, lol.

Yeah, I wasn't that happy with it either. But it was new and I wanted to wear it. :embar:

Normally, I'd wear a white linen with sky or navy blue edge - predictable, but good.

They're venetians, if that helps, but yeah, I think I'd be closer to their aesthetic if I swapped the cotton for white linen and went sockless with the shoes.

Lagerfeld is rather short (5'6" or thereabouts, from what I remember of one glancing sighting at Saks Fifth Avenue), and he had been quite fat, before losing a large amount of weight, such that his collar height could be a most eccentric (if effective) hiding place for the wattles of his neck. Or it could be just because he's Karl Lagerfeld.

I am pretty sure he lost more weight than 100lbs, and that was probably a decade ago. I think he just likes those collars. As a person who has actually lost 100lbs I have no neckage to show for it. Then again I lost the weight when I was 21 not 60...
