1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I must say I enjoy the unusual settings, wry observations and hilarious deadpan expressions offered up in signature Roycru posts. However, I too find the more recent "bizarre comments" schtick tiresome and repetitive. I prefer the old, "apolitical" Roycru, who was less judgemental, less predictable and more fun.

Yesterday, a bizarre combination of winter and summer fabrics - tweed, worsted flannel and shantung silk.

On the contrary, you can make aquafaba out of the water that comes out of cans of soybeans. Or rather, aquafaba IS the water that comes from cans of soybeans.

Exactly my point sir. We all have things we like and dislike about SF but no matter how pertinent a pet peeve may be, harping on about it in seemingly every post just turns any point to be made into noise.

2 of the best posters making the same slip imo i.e. tie/square mismatch. Neat squares want solid ties. Worn with a neat tie, particularly in a similar scale, a neat PS can look like you have a spare tie in your breast pocket.

    Love that gunclub RoyAl

I wouldn't say it's egregious, but the purple/green theme of both pieces makes them very matchy-matchy; and the patterns (repp and windowpane), being of similar scale, clash.

Together, the colour matching and the pattern clashing set up a weird cognitive dissonance. It's kind of hard to look at it. Maybe you should have spoilered the photo with a trigger warning for epileptics.

Of course, it's just one photo. The outfit might work much better in real life.

I appreciate your effort to respond with a bit of detail, and not to get too defensive, but a couple of hairs to split because that's what we do best here on SF - first, the jacket is more accurately tartan not windowpane. The tie is also a block stripe shantung, not a repp stripe (there is no ribbing on the tie). Finally, the jacket is green/indigo (almost navy) and the tie is green/purple, so three colours in total, and quite a common, "Scottish" combination (which is probably appropriate as the jacket is tartan).

All that said, I understand colour combos are always a bit subjective and thankfully we all have slightly different ideas about what works well.

As for your reference to "cognitive dissonance" I'm sorry coxy but when I see that on a clothing forum it always sounds like wank speak... ;-)

Believe me, if I really wanted to lay some wank speak on you, you'd have been completely inundated in verbal jizz.

Thank you for your comment @Pliny . People never comment my posts any more, but I agree whit you.
I was focusing on the colours; the tie, the shirt, the jacket and the PS ought to have some of the same palette. But I see that the scaling and and the pattern don't work that well.
