    Oh FFS.

I made it really clear that the reason I dislike ugly madras plaids (like patchwork) is that they're on the opposite end of the aesthetic scale from the beautiful ones. Because, to put it in short words, they're ugly:

While I was at it, I made fun of two of the douchebags who famously wear this crap because they're douchebags.

It would appear that you're wearing a tab-collared shirt, which is unusual in this day and age. I assume that you had it made to your specifications through Luxire. I cannot tell from the photos whether the shirt has button or double cuffs (when I have my tab or eyelet collar shirts made, I have them made double-cuffed), but the collar seems a proper length (I stopped have tab collar shirts made for me at BB as the collars were too short - the eyelet collar shirts are much nicer in that regard).

    @upr_crust :

    Thanks!

Indeed, it's a Tab from Luxire. I do love tab collars, but they are too short most of the time (6,5cm).
This one is 8,5cm and i enjoy it.

    The shirt have cocktail cuffs.
I rarely wear double cuff, even if i like them, and i try to wear buttoned cuff only on my button down collar shirts (and some ready to wear with cutaways).

    Hi guys,
My first post on this thread.
Would welcome any critique and suggestions!
I know my shirt sleeves are short and trousers probably a bit too much break.

    SC is Spence Bryson linen.
    Tie and PS by Vanda.
    Trousers are Harrison's Frontier.
    Chelsea boots by Carmina.

    Thanks.

Believe it or not it’s just an old JCP Stafford. It’s actually a bit big on me, but that’s fine when worn tieless under a jacket on occasions, like this one, where comfort and freedom of movement are more important than appearance.

    Cheers,

    Ac

Welcome! Outstanding first post. I agree with you on the sleeves and trousers.

The thing I'd try to work on is the amount of contrast between the jacket and trousers -- they are a medium greyish blue and a medium grey. The eye finds low contrast kind of unsettling; maybe try those trousers with a navy jacket or that jacket with a light neutral (tan/stone/etc).

    Cheers and welcome again.

Yes. As CruzAzul suggests, other factors being equal odd jacket/trouser combinations benefit from a contrast in shade between the two, so the brain of the observer doesn't have to struggle to figure out whether it's looking at a suit or not. Here's your (otherwise excellent) outfit converted to gray scale to make the point clear:

    I hope this helps.

Vacationing in Sardinia (you see how smoothly I got that in there!) so no opportunity to post anything new. These pics are a few months old. Tweed Country Sports (a store in Stockholm for those who dont know them) had a few ties made in Fox's lightest flannel. Works very nicely as a tie.

    SC: Isaia
    Shirt: Inglese
    Tie: Fox flannel
    PS: Bigi Cravatte
    Pants: Berg & Berg

I'm European and therefore, de facto, a communist of course. But the whole throwing shade on Madras fabrics have only resulted in me realising that I desperately need a Madras jacket. So a question to the "muricans" in the forum: who does them best? Should one go with RL or are there better options? (I can tell you upfront that I will not have a bespoke Madras jacket made...).

From Friday: I heard it was 3/2 sack jacket week. (Luckily, it was cold enough to justify some heavy tweed).

From today: nearly tie twins with Ac2. Let's call my expression "bemused," because "derpy" isn't kind.

Thunder, glad to know your shoes aren't the only impressive part of your wardrobe. Like the look, and love the tie. While I think there is a point (albeit not a very compelling one, in my estimation) about the degree of contrast, I think the b/w filter makes the shades seem farrrrrrr more alike than they really are. Obviously, that's the point, but it creates a skewed perspective. In my view, anyone who confused that for a suit in real life ought worry far more about their eyesight than your clothes. Very good first fit pic...which Vanda square is it?

Academic, what the heck is the fabric on the SC? That is some insanely awesome texture.

Nice one, but I would change the buttons of the jacket. The buttons are IMHO horrible
