Yeah... lets not get into the whole japan vs korea vs china etc etc debates....
Why are people now dressing like moldy fruit?
It's a commentary on the abundance of western society and our casual wasting of the fruits of the land.
As fascinated as I am by all this (and I’m deeply grateful to Claghorn for posting this information: the nature of Noodle’s earwax is a question that has long concerned me but I was too shy to ask), I don’t think he was talking about you. If you read the posts ad seriatim you'll see that he was probably replying to this statement by Claghorn:
“Most East Asians are like this. My dad, who is very white, is also like this. Lucky bastard.”
Brooks Brothers jacket, trousers, and shoes
Proper Cloth shirt
Turnbull & Asser Square
Charles Mark & Sons socks
Do I get extra credit for matching socks and pocket square? That's gotta be pretty esoteric, right? Also, shoes freshly treated with the chalk bag.
Having lived in China for seven years and occasionally encountered extraordinary anti-Japanese bigotry from people whom I otherwise had come to respect, I started to notice a pattern. Generally, they were under thirty years of age. I then found out that from about the mid-1990s, it became compulsory for Chinese middle school students to be taught about the Japanese occupation of China during the 30s and 40s - including the infamous Nanjing Massacre, which was re-enacted in a fairly brutal propaganda movie produced specifically for the purpose of school screenings.
Essentially, for the past twenty years, Chinese school students have been brainwashed to hate the Japanese. It's been very effective. They all do. There is no virtually no Chinese person under the age of thirty who does not harbour intense, vitriolic resentment against their neighbour country.
When I encounter this bigotry, I generally respond by asking which country has raped, tortured, starved and enslaved more Chinese people than any other. Of course, the answer I'm given is always "Japan!!!" At which point I say "No, you're wrong. The correct answer is China."
No. Not even close.
If they knew, then the propaganda wouldn't be as effective.
I've given up, and now just assume most of eastern Asia hates Japan.
edit: you're not worth it
So you're telling me that nation states twist the truth in order to serve their own purposes???
We doing the exact same thing on Nazi Germany though not the current German people.
Japan is an interesting case as they are not acknowledging their war aggression history and there are quite a few prominent figures who openly denies history.
The US has some states that try to deny history too. lolol
Hey, guys. X post from Friday Challenge. I come bearing fruit.
