Lunch at Bouley today with my husband and Bernoulli. It's gotten rather cold out in NYC, hence I'm able to wear today's suit, which is very hefty flannel.

    Suit - BB MTM
    Shirt - Tyrwhitt
    Tie - Hilditch & Key
    PS - no brand name
    Braces - Paul Staurt
    Vintage watch chain
    Shoes - Septieme Largeur, Paris
Hat - Selentino, via JJ Hat Center

I'm a bit partial to cutaways showing some rope of the tie. But as you say, that's a personal preference.

I also don't mind the more casual elements with the navy suit. I rarely have an occasion to dress in a truly formal manner, so if I want to wear my navy suit more than once a year I have to dress it down a bit with more casual elements. I think in this example it makes the fit look less "sharp," but perhaps easier to wear without standing out as overdressed.

That is a nice suit, @upr_crust . Must say you have the most impressive wardrobe.

@Shen very nice - I'm a bit fan of the sport coat and turtleneck look!

Great looks all. Still warm enough for linen here in San Diego.

Dazed everything looks good with the exception of the shoes. I think if you had worn something more congruent with the outfit it would have better

    +1

If they were more 'proper' loafers, it'd work. They need more shape otherwise they're too casual.

agreed! Seems like-- with only a few exceptions-- the posted shoes have been lacking lately. Can Styleforum step up the shoe game, please!!!

Agreed with the shoe statement. I was lazy though and didn't want lace ups. I probably should have gone with my "go to" shell PTB but there's always tomorrow.

Edit: and @ridethecliche, do the loafers look familiar? I got them from you a couple years ago.

Glad you're getting some good use out of them! Those are the BB ones right? Or PRL?

Shell ptb's would have been fine, but I wouldn't have worn blutchers with this ensemble. I'd have probably gone for loafers that have more shape like some of AE's/Aldens/etc other offerings.

Thursday. Suede vest. The lack of roll on this collar gives me a sad. :(

Indeed, Brooks Brothers. I have yet to find a sleeker loafer that fits me well. The vamp is always too tight. I don't know though, I feel that this is perfect blucher territory. Perhaps suede longwings.

    "Head of Forum", I believe.

I don't know if it's still the case since the forum redesign, but this thread, plus a few others, used to be "stuck" to the top of the front page of the main forum, hence "head of forum".
