I tried to do all solids today, but couldn't think of a good solid tie. Navy would be too matchy. I wore my green tie on Saturday. Red would have been too bright. I think dark brown would have clashed with my belt/shoes. Any recs?

I think the tie is fine (and congruent with your style), it's the matching lapel flower that makes the fit look contrived

I have a rust grenadine tie that would look similar to the orange tie and fit your all solids look. But I like that orange one as it brightens up the look

Ac, you have on my SF's top 3 of 3-piece suits wearer. I always like your CBS style! But above all, I need to know more about that wine collection you feature on most of your shoe shots!

As I've always said, you need to wear suits more often, definitively suits you! I would've worn different socks tho!

Splendid use of brown and earth tones!

Very nice shoes, Crat! Went on my first 'real' fishing trip this week-end, but sure as hell wasn't as stylish as you doing so!

And those shoes!! Also love what appears to be the Seagull M199S!

    Splendid, love those trousers!

I don t know. I never really gave it that much thought. I also have a peak lapel tweed jacket. I think peak lapels were more ubiquitous backe in the earlier eras but I just like the look. I think it can be done carefully. Ymmv.

I agree 100% with these gentlemen.
Great look, AAS. If you really want to get rid of all patterns, a muted orange would be fine though I think you can pull of a brighter shade as well.

An orange tie with a dark or mid-blue jacket is a beautiful combination. And versatile: ‘Orange’ is a big category, so if you want a less bold look you can go for ‘burnt orange’, which tends toward the brown side of the orange spectrum; if you want a bold look, as here, that’s fine too.

AAS’s use of the tie in this case is lovely. And jcmeyer’s tie looks good, too—I look forward to seeing it with a shirt and jacket at some point.

    Cheers,

    Ac
