The first objective of a jacket is to accentuate the v shape of broad shoulders tapering down. This is done by the v of the opening down to the button point and the outer edges of the lapel forming a more open v.

The cut suffers from the standard problems of modern styling - the button point is too high and the length is too short, cutting off the v before it reaches proportionality with the lower body; the lapels are too thin, making the v seem less angled than it should.

Fit is harder to judge because of the pose and can get very nitpicky, but perhaps the chest is a bit tight? What you want is for the lapels to form straight lines without bending on the contours of your chest.

Yes... She does make it a little difficult to keep one's mind on menswear...

She initially had a hard time because she was too funny-looking. It seems insane now, but when she describes her long nose and close-set eyes, etc., and you compare her to the starlets of the time, she was quite unconventional.

She became a sensation because De Sica, genius that he is, saw in her the passion and strength we all came to know and love. She never even auditioned for her breakout role; he just told her to show up. If you haven't read her recent memoir, do. What a woman.

I'm now dying to get her cookbook.

Of all Sofia Loren's things I've been dying to get my hands on, her cookbook is pretty much last on my list.

    ---

Today I rushed out of my house with just enough time to grab my camera and tripod, hoping to snap some shots at the office. The results of such ventures isare always mixed. [just noticed this glaring error. sorry]

The tie almost works with the lapels, as they're kinda skinny too. I say "almost" because if you're not both A.) in a very good ska band and B.) David-Bowie-on-70s-pharmaceutical-coke wiry, you should take every tie skinnier than 2.75" and donate it to the local Elderly Ska Players In Need home.

+1 on everything related to color, though this combination could possibly work tieless as a casual look, especially since the jacket appears to be cotton(?). Kind of an advanced maneuver, though; if you have to ask then it's probably not working.

I've spoken on my dislike for doing roboposes myself, but your pose does make the fit hard to evaluate. Plenty of good roboposes to look at here, though. Look at a roboed fit that has a lot of thumbs. See how the jacket seems to almost float a centimeter off the body, maintaining a very jacket-like shape. This of course will change as you move in the jacket, but it is the Platonic ideal starting point.

+1 on the flaws of modern consumer RTW fits, on display here. Lapels in general are too skimpy, fits are too tight, and I say once again that RISES ARE TOO LOW. Your rise is too short for you. It's too short for anyone, if you ask me. But this is common. You don't look like a fool, but a couple inches on that rise will make you look much better.

Put This On has some very good basic fit tips. And try things on. Now with Suitsupply and other prepaid-return stores, you can buy stuff until your mouse finger breaks and post fit pics. Thumbs-down stuff just goes back in the mail.

Lovely color for the suit and that tie is just perfect.
