Not bad.......but I think this idea works better when the waistcoat is an 'accent piece' to the coat. Not so much like in this case where it simply looks as if you took the waistcoat from one suit and used it with the other.
In other words, I think the waistcoat should be a patterned fabric like a check, plaid, etc. hopefully with a little extra texture to contrast with the solid fabric of the coat. Knitted items can also serve this purpose well. Conversely, if the jacket were patterned and textured then a smoother finished and solid waistcoat would be a nice contrast.
I believe that is a patch pocket with a 'swelled edge' but perhaps someone else should verify this - as I'm not 100% about whether or not a 'swelled edge' includes the visible line of stitching.
By the way - the shirt is great - now find a tie to go with it young man! No running around with a coat, pocket square, no tie and your shirt unbuttoned down to your navel!!!!!!!
(seriously I'm fine with the whole look w/o the square - just something about the no tie with square thing that bugs me - and probably just me.)
SF nashville meetup? tie shopping, a shoe shine, and nordstrom cafe.
if this nordstrom doesnt have a shoe shine stand, ill be fecking peeved. thats always been my favorite part of nordstrom.
Or we could always go to flip. They know me by name at this point. Not much in the way of hang-out space, though.
Greg, I fear you might not enjoy my company, as I always wear a square in a SC and I almost never wear ties...
nice. I enjoy flip...found some pretty nice ties and pocket squares there for cheap. The navy sportcoat im wearing today came from there too IIRC
lets get something on the books. We'll drop in and give bleachboy hell and raid the racks at flip.
this is how i wear my squares that dont go with any of my ties.....without a tie! haha
yea the blue is a little too bright blue
but i didn't have too many choices
especially since i was going to tie a windsor knot
btw... not familiar with bat mitzvah so... i have no idea what you're referring to
i felt good
(except maybe i could find myself a better tie)
and just as you said, i did the windsor since i was wearing a spread collar
my first and only spread collar/french cuff shirt
Slight rope in the shoulder?
In the full-length, the tie looks like a larger scale paisley or something. Nice, solid look, though Señor Crust. I doubt the tie will get much love 'round these parts, but if there's any place a man should be able to express his aesthetic, it's the tie.
Your jacket's grown wings! Love it. Of your recent looks, this is my favorite. I'm a big fan of single-breasted with peak lapels.
Methinks nay. It just looks like you pulled the vest from a different suit and put it on, sorta like wearing a suit jacket as an odd jacket (BlazerSuit notwithstanding).
Trying something a bit different, heavily inspired by the second pic in this post, which I felt had a good idea albeit not brilliant execution. Not sure I've done any better, to be honest, but I like it anyway, as another option.
(yeah, I know I wore this as part of a suit only a couple of days ago, but I wanted to try it as a separate today, so sod giving it time to "rest/relax". )
Id like the jacket better with wider lapels. and with matching pants.
Works a little better than the Kiton IMO due to the less stark light/dark contrast...
I knew there would be 'something wrong with you!'
