1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

You guys are putting more thought into my dress than I do most days.

As I noted earlier, I am not trying to be the "anti-style" guy here, nor am I trying to be controversial. I'm amused, more than anything else, by these last few pages. Just a few thoughts, for what they're worth.

    1) I was crap at this for a long time, and it's taken a lot of trial and error to get to even my current level of base competency. Look at my past pics, if they're even still around. Call it youthful hubris.

    2) I am generally pleased with my wardrobe, as imperfect as it is. I need to be in a suit just about every day, so I am trying to keep things basic, yet have enough variety that I can have a little bit of fun. I know that I have certain pieces that need to be altered, but minor alterations fall to the back of the queue of "things to spend money on" right now.

    3) I enjoy the "trad/ivy" look simply because, as some others have noted, it's not overly fussy. When I first found myself trying to learn more about menswear, I took it to 11 with OTT stuff like RLBL, BBBF, TaT, jacquard shirts, etc. I wore shit that was too small, and I generally looked ridiculous. I don't want that anymore.

    4) I still have some shit pieces in my collection. I'm weeding them out (trying). (That green tie - the ugly Hermes piece?)

    5) I know that gunboats, AEs, etc, are not the best looking shoe by many members' standards.

I've articulated my reasons for wearing gunboats before. Were money immaterial, I'd like to have much nicer/sleeker shoes. Now, though, I have to focus more on utility and value for me. I'm a young attorney trying to get my own practice off the ground. I don't have unlimited disposable income, and I'm not making $160k+ a year working in a BigLaw mill firm. Shoes over $400 are not a reality for me right now.

    6) I read everyone's input. I take it in. I don't always listen to everyone, but I have select posters whose opinions I value and take into consideration. I have been trying to work in some of these suggestions, bit by bit.

    7) Many posters here dress great, even though I wouldn't necessarily wear what they do.

    8) @ Ed & Manton, I threw out my jacquard shirts.

    Anything else?

the gunboats look a lot nicer than many sleek shoes would so don't apologize for them.

Upon inspection you might deem that certain things such as a tailcoat &c are not entirely necessary and that the total is ca. $11,800.

my new midnight blue suit from the tailor in korea
can be mistaken for black while indoors... unless if you put it up against something that's actually black
but outdoors or under good lighting, you can see the blueness of the fabric
    i like it a lot
the fit is great... even better than my first charcoal suit made for me
since i asked the tailor to make the pants 1/2 inch smaller in the waist
    [IMG]
    wore a new ps today
    pink with blue edge cotton

now... must i wear black shoes with this midnight blue?
i think the contrast in color would be too much if i tried to wear a brown
