Haha! I hadn't thought of them as old man socks; my reservation was that they were too summery (as they're my go-to in summer, since I don't do sockless at work). They were a somewhat impulsive choice. I felt gray -- of any shade -- didn't work with the chocolate brown of the trew, and threw off the whole zeitgeist of what I was going for. In retrospect, I should just have gone navy.

Pretty much anything dark (except black) would work OK there (dk brown, dk green, burgundy, navy, etc...)

For a brief time last night I was excited by Kulata’s proposal for a Friday Challenge in honor of Gianni Cerruti (a “loud accessories challenge”), whose beautiful handmade ties and youthful Italianate sensibility I’ve admired for some time, although both are well outside my personal comfort zone. The excitement passed rather quickly, but before it did I got off a couple of quick snaps. (Jacket is browner and darker than it appears in the photos.)

    Don’t say I didn’t warn you …

    Cheers,

    Ac

Got some new suede loafs (the RL's that went down to $150), made by AE. Love 'em. Perfect color of suede. They're replacing a pair of suede brown longwings (Peal & Co.'s) that I had fit issues with. I figure these occupy the same general space in wardrobe terms as the longwings did, only these have a nicer shape, and a better fit (so far).

Tried 'em on with yesterday's fit. Wearing them today with a more casual fit.

Thank you for the critiques guys; it’s truly hard to get such knowledgeable feedback!

The overalls are both parts of suits, but the jackets are still in construction, so I have been shoehorning them into other outfits. When they’re paired with the jackets, as they usually will be, I think most will assume they are three piece suits, which is the rather the point.

I’d hope to post more here, as I’m moving my wardrobe in a suit intensive direction, the majority of which will be overall suits in reserved, traditional fabrics. Perhaps that’ll lessen the push to the SWD side of things? [IMG] Although, the jackets will have some unusual design features too, so maybe that’ll draw some flames!

Very interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished suits and to hear why you went for such outlandish design features.

Also nice little bit about what were up to over on Lincoln Center's blog, The Coda today. Sorry for the shameless plug, the blue steel shot and the sh***y pics today.

Long day of torrential downpour in NYC. Shirt/jacket combo today maybe not the best. [IMG] I really like the shirt/pocket square combo though. Thanks for the thumbs yesterday. Good night.

Gianni made my this lovely tie, apparently there was only enough of this 50 year old silk for two ties, one for me & one for him. :slayer:
Thank you very much Gianni !
