I have never seen somebody use the term "dick holster" outside of the military. Did not expect to see it here.

This looks great, but would have been even better with brown, somewhat less formal shoes, imo.

Brown shoes will lead to brown belt. Brown belt and a black tie, knit or no, will lead to nowhere good.

mrjester, check out Yount's knits. They are wider than most knits (3 inches) and pointed.

Would you say a brown belt is more versatile than a black belt? I want a one-type-fits-all-occasions belt.

I think that the belt is simply supposed to blend in with your trousers? Visually, I can't see how matching a belt with physically distant shoes will do any good.

Pointed knits are the devils work. Takes all the fun out of it. But thank you sir.

Yes, brown is always more versatile.

Always.

And.. belt blend in with trousers? Where did you hear that?

There is literally one utterly inflexible rule in clothing. If you're wearing brown shoes, you can't wear a black belt. If you're wearing black shoes, you can't wear a brown belt.

I'm afraid I don't agree, Claghorn. The formality of a black knit tie with a pair of brown shoes makes sense together. Normally, black and brown don't work together in clothing, but I think this is a minor exception. That said, I wouldn't like SB's rig as much with brown shoes...

you payin?
im full of euphemisms. although ive never been in the military.

I'll only pay if I get full rights to the .jpegs resulting from said encounter, and euphemisms aren't the only thing of which you are full, Derk - but that is part of your dubious charms. :satisfied:

I kind of try to keep the two separate any way possible. I learned this years ago, didn't need SF to point that out.

Thanks, Stitchy.

mrjester, it is a silk knit, but the scale is finer than typical, so the sheen isn't as apparent.

I'm not sure how a grayscale fit calls for brown shoes. A knit tie may be more casual than a repp silk tie, but this one is black. Black shoes seems like an...uncontroversial choice. I would be more receptive to a call for black derbies.
