Pingson, that's a grey SC? Have we had a grey SC Friday challenge yet? Gray SC on top can be a puzzle. Dirnelli on tumblr has been challenged by this for one of his gray check SC recently.

I like the idea of off white but not too yellow for trousers with light grey. Less butter and more half and half if that makes sense (coffee creamer for you across the pond). Not sure where the cream trousers you have on lie
    In that spectrum.

I would go with lighter brown shoes though.

The SC is a kind of olive green with blue/brown and cream over checks - here's a close-up photo with slightly better representation of colours:

Agree on the lighter shoes though....

    Tweeds, or snuff suede perhaps?

So, totally nitpicking as a way of thinking out loud about this interesting fit.

I like Cleav's suggestion of snuff suede for shoes. I think that would be perfect. I feel like a less saturated blue shirt might be nicer so the central contrast is the green versus cream (rhymes!).

Unlike Stitch, I don't mind the contrast between the top and bottom and this pic I think shows the SC/trouser combination in a more flattering light (the cream looks less yellow here to me). That said, I wonder if light brown flannels might have been better with green (though you'd have to think about contrast with shoes)?

I LOVE the cream flannels in Pingson's fit. I had forgotten that I own some myself until I saw the fit on tumblr this morning. I need to get them tailored, but perhaps had I thought of pairing them the way P has with that jacket I would have kept my Chester Barrie tweed.

Interestingly, snuff suede was my other option this morning :fonz:

The Sc pairs really well with brown flannels, just thought I needed to try something new. As for the shirt, I thought that a lighter blue shirt might have looked too washed out, hence the slightly bluer shirt.
Very, VERY happy with the SC :nodding:

Spring is definitely in the air; was able to wear this suit without its waistcoat for this first time this year:

ftfy. Truth sometimes hurts. I'm no professional but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express blah blah blah. Your style probably won't mix well in here.

-Ties are pretty bad and poorly tied. I'm not a fan of Regis Philbin shiney solids.
-Suit isn't my personal style but more importantly it doesn't seem to fit well, pant length especially
-Your glasses are killing me or maybe it's the pose idk.
-something here screams "Casting Couch" D rated porn scene.
-Your shoes are just ugly in every sense.

Speaking from a work in progress myself.

Alright threeonethree, I'll try to tackle this.

First, everything in the picture, except the square, should never be worn again. It doesn't matter what look you are going for.

The suit is bad and it doesn't fit. If you don't wear suits much, I'm not suggesting you go out and splurge, but you should be able to spend several hundred dollars on sonething decent. That means natural fibers (100% wool) with lapels wider than 3 inches and a buttoning point mych lower (it isn't flattering to your body type that high). I don't know what that satin stuff is on the lapel and pocket, and I don't want to.

I get that skinny ties are in right now, but you can find a medium between classical and trendy. 8cm is a good compromise. The shinier the tie, the cheaper they look.

Nobody cares what your couch looks like.

Those shoes do not look good. If they're black and worn with a suit, they should be oxfords. Those are also far too pointy.

Welcome to SF. If you survive that fit...and likely the next few...and manage to stick around, you will very quickly be dressing far better than that.

I'm on my phone--can someone link him to the composite thread for examples?
