1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

That's an interesting perspective, I'm going to think about it. For now, does not make any sense to me. What do you think about Buttler's well known f# tweed suit? It does not follow the perspective that you painted and it looks way better to my eye.

In the constellation of plaid, yes. Remember, in the UK, tartan kilts are acceptable formalwear. -- Thanks again for the thumbs yesterday. [IMG]

Hard to say without the jacket buttoned. But also, no two suits and no two builds are alike.

All this talk of thumbs. What is this that I have whelped and is it foul or is it fair?

GMMcL, for your future purchases, I think you should try to find jackets with more open fronts/quarters. My suspicion is that this will increase the apparent length of your legs for more flattering proportions.

cp, it's a bit thick and unwieldy, and I was thinking this morning that I am just about done with it. If you really would like it, send me a PM with your address, and I'll send it to you.

Yeah, I'm starting to think the 20+ thread might have unwanted repercussions here [IMG]

stitchy; I'm - unsurprisingly - in the FlyingMonkey's camp on the nature of black watch and had the same initial feeling about Spoo's outfit as a result. I note that all the others posting in support of his reservations share a British cultural background, so feel free to put this down to transatlantic differences. Many British people - and god know how this still happens, given the average standard of dress - somehow retain a memetic instinct for how certain items/patterns have historically been worn and so it's inevitable that that cultural background influences how we still see them today, including on SF and in full knowledge that that perspective is no longer necessarily valid. Leaving aside any personal experiences some of us have with those traditions, I think the broader knowledge must stem from our constant exposure to lots of period dramas... [IMG]

Indeed. I've never seen people soliciting, either directly or indirectly, thumbs before. Still, the composite thread isn't undermined by a few 18s and 19s and the thumbs have always been secondary to this thread.

    It's just interesting.
