How do you like the tab collar with the bowtie? I've never tried it?

Ok, I see your thinking, I was thinking that solid navy was even more city/formal.

I actually prefer it to, say, a button down or a semi-spread. It kinda pushes the bow forward in a way the others don't so it spreads forwards more, making it seem a bit narrower and less affected in my opinion, but your mileage may vary. It's my preferred way of wearing them outside of a formal environment.

Cool, I'll give it a try; I usually wear them with a spread or semi spread if the shirt isn't an ocbd.

I love wearing them but hate it when they look like a gimmick.

I'd say a tux is one of the easiest ways to dress, because there is so little variation. Everything has to conform to a basic set of rules: Black/midnight blue, peak/shawl lapels in satin/grosgrain, jetted pockets, no splits in the back, 1 button/double breasted, wear a white double cuff shirt, black bow tie, waistcoat/cummerbund and black captoes, and wear it after 6pm/sunset. If you're looking at a tux and it doesn't conform to these rules it's not really appropriate. You have to choose for yourself whether you're ok with that. I don't mind a little deviation, as long as the basic details are there.

Thanks for the compliments/thumbs guys, it was a great night! [IMG]

All sorts of new (to me) gear today; some of which is not very SF approved (with good reason I'm sure). I was concerned that even though it is an ocbd the shirt felt a little too "city" for everything else. Thoughts and feedback more than welcome.

Took a risk with the pocket square (it isn't so bright IRL) for which I fully expect to receive a thrashing, but it's the only way I'll learn [IMG]
pants are actually green, note the invisible tie bar

I like the new shirt and tie. The fabric on the jacket seems nice, but I wish the lapels were higher and wider.

This is a great outfit. I love the colors and textures. They mix very well. I like the coat a lot, but I think it may be too small for you in the waist and the length. Pity. I think the shirt is fine.

I like the square, just not with that tie. What's the deal with this "vest"? Is it a vest?
