Come on, its fun! Its very Duchamp. If you like that sort of thing. I'm 50/50 on it. I wouldn't wear it everyday, yet I see no harm in having some fun and being bright and funky every now and again. That's what Duchamp are for.

Tried out my new black Grenadine. Do you think a navy or bordeaux one would be better and the black one I only should use for funerals?

Curious what type of shirt/jacket to pair ties like this with, FM?

I own several lighter ties that I purchased when I thought I wanted every color of the rainbow . . . I never wear them because I don't know how. I don't mind the idea of tastefully departing from the norm from time to time even if it isn't optimal. I'm curious how to do so well, however.

I like monochrome fits with black grenadines a lot. I think here you would benefit from a plain white shirt however. IMO your suit establishes you aren't going to a funeral, and I think you look good.

No. I just bought a black tie today, and I think they can be worn at any time, with the right outfit. With a black suit and white shirt, sure, you would look like a funeral attendee. But a grey suit, or different colour shoes... anything's possible.

Look at Lapo - he's not going to a funeral, is he? :)

(unless that's navy. But it looks black).

I love that the two ties under scrutiny here are black grenadines and extremely light purple Duchamp florals.

Black grenadines are fine. They're rather somber, but there are times when that's okay. I don't like them in a purely monochrome context, though.

Light ties work okay on white shirts with dark suits, IMHO. It's what makes a wedding tie work. It's not a conservative look, and I think the tie in question here is a shade lighter than it should be to make that work well, but it's not automatically a bad look.

The peak lapel, white shirt and white PS screams for a tie. The houndstooth pattern (specially with that large scale) is way to informal for the peak lapel of the jacket. Is it a suit or an odd jacket?

very nice. your best yet. the trousers are just right. i wouldnt go any darker or you will start to lose the very nice contrast you have with the jacket. -- mimo, continually improving. i think you are best off with shoes that have no laces. saves you from doing something silly. ;) -- plenty of nice fits to start the week. timo, crusty, pliny, pingson, clags and im sure some more i forgot after catching up.

You look sharp, but is that a 3 roll 2 with peaks? Those two details tell different stories do they not?

I am no expert but...I don't think the brown is the best for the jacket. Let's go navy blue!!![IMG]

    Lol @Rudals

Wait, to clarify, did you think the tie should be navy blue or the suit?
