1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

A little casual today. Still trying to improve. Feel free to pinpoint anything on my outfit that needs improvement. Regards :)

M-Co, read that thing about the spoiler tags. And, even given my inherent prejudice against socklessness, wearing no socks while requiring an overcoat and scarf, is just silly. But I like your style. :)

I think this is great. I'm the only person who gave it a thumbs-up (though a couple of others later posted in its favour too) but it totally works on its own terms. Sure, to some SFers - and also to a not inconsiderable portion of the wider world - it will undoubtedly come across as douchey in the extreme. But on its own terms - a flashy, louche, entertaining, conspicuously consumptive sketch - it works 110%. It's blatantly, crassly, perfectly, divisive from the hair to the pinky ring; sociological and sartorial Marmite. And that's why it's great.

    On a more pedestrian note:

Doc, I think the shirt and jacket checks are too similar in scale. A bit buzzy. The less said about the tie the better. :)

Today I start a little personal contest. I have 14 nightshifts in a row and I want to use every suit, jacket, pants, shirt and tie in this 14 days only once.

Buzzy is an appropriate word, because the tie has bees on it. Or flies. Or maybe ladybirds (ladybugs to you lot). I'm not quite sure. Probably bees though, so why not pair them with a buzzy shirt/jacket!

In truth, I just wanted to wear the shirt. It's actually the last time I'll be wearing this shirt (sleeves are too short and it's fraying in other places, and new shirts are en route, so time to say goodbye to it).

I don't love the Hermes belt buckle either, however I don't mind one piece in an ensemble that is equally distinctive and sort of over the top. Cartier makes a few non-branded belt buckles that are still conspicuous that I'd love to own. but I enjoy gucci horsebit loafers for the samereason

Is the vest a little bit too tight, or is it a deeper intention to let the two top buttons open?

Timo, get more Germans/Austrians to post here. Don, the Shibumi folks, and yourself are not enough (there are a few other Germans I think, and they routinely have superb fits and/or excellent attitudes)

That's funny, Don. I do a similar thing: I teach a night law school class, and I try to make it through the whole semester without wearing the same suit twice. Here's today: [IMG]

^ Tie is too wide for the lapels. Also I advise against wearing it on a visit to the epilepsy clinic.
