    Yours looks better ;)

I haven't even worn either of these yet. When did I get them? Eight months ago. Hah.

Oh SF. Why do you make me purchase things I will never wear.

Thanks for all the comments and thumbs!

Finally picked up my drycleaning today, but that meant I still had to wear the same shirt as yesterday. I think it works much better with this single breasted brown pinstripe suit, very much of a 1930s vibe. I really like this unlined and untipped Drakes grenadine, would love to own more of these kind of grenadines.

I don't think I've ever given SF the chance to gaze upon my luscious locks, so here is my entry for the awesome hair club.

I quite like this combo, but I'm curious - has the suit been dry cleaned? Lapel roll is completely gone...

Navy suit with a dark brown tie is one of the best combinations there is imho.

To get a new lapel roll or to make a 3-roll-2 jacket from a normal 3 button jacket I made this video:

Some people may have an issue with that. I put some work in to mine from time to time but not like that.

And tell me, how much did you sweat right there?

Drake's is a great tie maker. One of the few firms that offers heavyweight 50 ounce silk. Does the lack of lining affect the crease recovery? All my ties are lined, so I'm curious about your experience with unlined ties.

Thx all! I was intentionally going for the dark somber look. I wanted to the tie to blend in with the suit. I tend to shy away from ties that look like a sore thumb.

You should stop being shy on that. Make sure to step away from the shiny ties and go for it. Vanda and Panta (har har) are the ones I like the most. Sam Hober is good too.

Panta is my current favorite with the muted colors on the Neat pattern. The orange/rust came in last week and it's my second favorite tie in my collection. Guess what my first and thirds are?.. Panta.

No, it doesn't affect it at all, and I have a few lined Drakes grenadines as a direct comparison. I'd say it drapes even better than the lined ones, although it is slightly more informal.

Ah yes, but I was aiming in blend in my tie into to the suit. Let me try a grey tie to see how it looks. Omgosh, I am church and Sunday school kids are pulling at my jacket!!!

I don't think I just know any better at this point. I'll put up something to see if I can put some contrast between the tie and the suit.

If you want to go for a more tone-on-tone look, Sean Connery, Tom Ford, and the 1950s Cary Grant would be inspirations. If you like more color and pattern, the Duke of Windsor and Fred Astaire are exemplars. Ralph Lauren, when he's dressing for himself in a suit, can fall in either group.

And texture never hurts. Grenadines, knits, raw silk, etc.

Sean Connery, yes. And you may laugh at this but I like the looks from Skyfall and maybe the previous two Bond movies as well.
