1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I like the PS. I think you'd do better to tuck a bit more of it in, as it's showy enough with just a peek.

If that's the best you can tie a tie you better go ask someone!

other than the fact that the back end of the tie is sticking out, I don't see much of a problem. I prefer to just take a picture without spending 20 minutes getting every crease right and measuring how much cuff I have showing [IMG]

Everything else, including your other half, looks slick, smart, well put together ... you even both coordinate. Then you have a tie with crooked long blade and a way too short short blade sticking out of your jacket and screaming out from an otherwise calm and smart-casual outfit.

It's not a matter of spending 20 minutes removing every crease. The tie is often the centre of visual focus of the whole outfit and should be done right.

As with all criticism it's your choice to accept or ignore, but if you're going to ignore, it begs the question why you posted a pic??

Then you're in the wrong forum, my friend, 'cause that's the way we roll here in the Thunderdome!

(Stole that from stereoscopic and I'm hoping it catches on.)

My coming out, so to speak. From this morning. The company uniform for managers is actually a black tee shirt emblazoned with the company logo and khaki pants. Or business casual. This would probably qualify me for the CBD thread, based on meeting company criteria. Oh well. SC: Vintage (mid 80's) Sergio Valente rescued from the back of my closet. Shirt: BB Slacks: Deansgate Footwear: Allen Edmonds Sanfords in burgundy Tie: Richel PS: BCF Cufflinks: BCF [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] (I had my readers on so that I could see the damned pictures.) [IMG] [IMG] There is currently no hair style other than brushing it. I am growing it out after years of a #4 clip every 2 weeks. In another month or so, I'll let some stylist have her way with me.

Your look is OK if a little bland but a hundred times better than a company logo polo shirt and khakis so credit to you for taking the high road.

I have a feeling you will get slaughtered for the sport coat, which looks dated and very unflattering. Baggy, boxy fit, odd buttoning point, very low gorge (where your lapel notches are). Also general SF consensus is that it's a lot harder to pair trousers with a light coloured odd jacket than a darker one (navy, charcoal etc.)

Anyway welcome and stick around. Lots to learn here.

Much better indeed! And I actually quite like the wide lapels as an ever so subtle bird-flip.

But also: you look much better for not having your hair hanging down your face. This makes your entire appearance more balanced and more mature.

One thing: you may want to try out a slightly higher, more spread collar to draw attention away from your relatively long neck.

Yeah, we're going to go with subtle bird flip as the reason for the wide lapels. From here on in, that's the justification. As far as the hair goes, it's a matter of whether or not I remember mousse during my morning routine. I've worn my hair at 2+ feet up until about a year ago, and I'm still not huge on styling.

As for the collar, I'll probably try it but I like my collars pointed because I have a hawkish face with a long nose and that's something I like to accentuate. After all, I will hopefully have my PhD relatively soon, and I find our curriculum lacks on the whole mad/evil part of being a mad/evil scientist front.

Today is the 4th Sunday of Lent, Laetare Sunday--"Rose Sunday". Wonder if I could borrow Spoo's pink cashmere Attolini tie?
