Haven't suited up for work in a long time. Forgot how great it feels when I do. It's like the next step up from the odd jacket & trousers look.

I'd have worn black shoes, but the new ones I just got haven't arrived yet. Can't wait!!!

Wore a red sweater over my shoulders this morning. I think I remember PG doing that back in the day.

Still struggling with this casual thing (you'll note a lot of my tie/shirt/jacket combinations have uneven levels of formality). Formal suiting is so much simpler. Buy a suit, have it tailored by someone who knows what they are doing, wear a conservative shirt and soporific tie. But introduce jackets with patterns...scary stuff for me.

Also, the shirt is pink on pink.

May I ask what industry do you work in? To my knowledge Seoul is UCBD. :puzzled:

clags, i think you did well with the color combo. though some will never like a white shirt and SC, i am not one of those people. however, it looks like a white on white stripe, i dont love those.
also, the tie seems a bit too slick for that country SC, maybe try a wool, or cashmere, something with more texture, softer and earthier.
noap!

The shirt is actually pink on pink. But what you said about the tie is dead on. My collection of ties is almost entirely on that level of formality. I have very few color options when it comes to rougher more casual ties. I added quite a few in October, but I'm trying to do MoL's challenge for November/December. Fortunately, my birthday was last Tuesday, and I gave my fiance a dozen or so options from HY and KW, so I should be getting a few more informal ties in the next week.

It's odd...I love ties, but I don't need to wear a suit anymore. I had all these ties sitting around that I love but don't get to wear too much...basically whenever it was cool enough to wear a cardigan. I had a decent number of odd jackets as well, but I generally wore those without ties (I have no idea why). I joined SF so I could figure out a way to wear all my ties again without being reliant on cardigans and without needing to wear a full suit. Instead, I find myself buying more ties. I mean, I'm totally happy about buying more ties. I love ties...

but damn you SF!

If UCBD = ultra conservative business dress...you are sort of right.

I used to work in a very large Korean logistics company, which is why I have all the formal suiting left over. Totally conservative business dress. Any ounce of individuality in my outfits would be scrutinized as I was white in a Korean company. As far as the "sort of"...during the summer, everybody wears short sleeve collared shirts. I was the only one in long sleeves most of the time because **** if I'm wearing short sleeves and a tie. Oh yeah, and the taste in ties here is just bloody awful.

I actually have a couple architect friends here and they dress very SF WAYWRN.

Now I research and teach, so quite a bit less formal. I don't even need to wear a tie unless I have a meeting or something.

lol, yup, you think you have a collection, and BOOM!! ITS WORTHLESS LOL!

i would say based on my experience, start retooling with some solid grenadines, find some nice wools/cashmeres/blends in solid/herringbone/POW/small stripe and other simple patterns, and you will be in good shape.

yay ties! :)

Hi gents! This is as of yesterday. I was all the day at the office, so I tried this combo (luckily for me, at the office there are not to many people). I wanted to try it, cuase that shirt I don't know with what tie I could use it with a blue suit. I think a lighter grey tie would work fine. But any other colour recommendations? Thanks!

First of all... Burn that shirt. I'm sorry, but it's awful.

That shirt is definitely a doozy. If you are against getting rid of it, I would suggest wearing it in a more casual sense. Possibly wearing it without a tie and with a navy or black blazer. Also, the shirt only seems appropriate for a night on the town.

This is your first fit I have put a STOP sign on. That shirt is really tricky...maybe a light solid yellow tie?
