I really liked the way the collar looks in the pic, and based on this I will probably never wear another collar stay again.

You have a remarkable collection of serious jackets - this one's another beauty.  I can't help but wonder if you live in a colder San Francisco than the one I recall!  

It looks heavier than it is. The fabric is a fairly open weave, and the jacket is self-lined only on the fronts and shoulders. You can actually see light through the single layer of fabric.

I like this, TB. I do think that the solid PS looks a little lifeless, though. Maybe something reads as solid from a few feet away, but has some pattern, would liven things up.

 IMO this is the best fitting jacket I've seen on you so far. Perhaps a tad long, but the draped chest and reduced waist suppression work very well...

Ironically, this is an RTW jacket from Herringbone Sydney. It's the Osaka Model, which Ethandesu developed and refined based on the Ring Jacket Model 184, hence the lovely Southern Italy meets modern Japan sort of look. Sadly, it is a bit too long and since being purchased by Van Laack, the Osaka seems to be slowly disappearing from the shelves.
