A perfect fit man, really great.
First post to SF, all comments are appreciated besides cleaning my mirror.
The last time that I looked, I was not trafficking in child pornography, but will take your suggestion into consideration should I decide to take up another profession.
As my shoes today are both rather heavily ornamented, and are not black, your comment comes as no surprise, considering your style preferences.
Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.
Your comments are duly noted, gentlemen.
I think your socks are just fine. Nice combination uprcust
The socks are unobtrusive enough, I think. I wouldn't have even noticed then w/out the discussion. But I'm not fond of the shoes; the monk/wingtip hybridisation was not a successful genetic experiment IMO.
I like the rest of his outfit though. Maybe a carefully chosen pattern of some sort on the tie would not have gone amiss, perhaps?
Well, I've noticed you've worn similar coloured socks several times in the last few weeks. I know I know that often it is best to match socks to trouser colour... In this case, however, the socks you choose just make the whole outfit look dull and dowdy. You should at least put some contrasting texture or miniature pattern in other colours to bring them alive in them if they are going to be the same colour as the trousers unless formality is paramount. Even then, I'd favour another sock colour than beige.
To be blunt - khakis and blazer are old man enough without old man socks. I've said it before but you should take a leaf out of L. Barbera's book. Navy sock FTW.
I do not disagree with your observation on the shoes - it took them being heavily discounted for me to buy them, and they are not precisely favorites, but in the right context I think that they're OK.
A tie with a carefully chosen pattern might well have been nice in combo with the shirt - however, such a tie was not on my tie rack this AM, hence the solid natte chosen .
lol, its a start, but not guaranteed safety.
crusty - i like your socks
holdfast - that tie is amazing
Remembering that you're a Brit, Ich Dien, I am understanding the associations that you have with light-colored socks, blazers, and khakis (though in this case, the trousers are tropical-weight wool, but the same khaki color). The images that come to mind from my long-term exposure to the UK ARE dowdy - old geezers pottering about a country club, gin and tonic in hand. The only thing that would have been worse had my shoes been a lighter shade of brown (or, God forbid, light grey, which would not only have been dowdy but also very downmarket).
I will see if I can't be a bit less dowdy in future, though geezerdom is my future, considering my age .
Not sure these socks work, I was trying to bridge the tonal gap between the shoes ( my favourites, Carmina ) & the trousers as well as pull the pattern of the coat through?
Thanks for the comments and thumbs last time, not sure why the socks were 'scary' though?
Wherever you go today, don't expect service.
Did you forget your helmet when taking your motorcycle to work this morning?
might try that thanks
I understand what your trying to say and I kind of agree with it but how come they still use this in GQ, the multi color options?
Genltemen, still getting the grips with posting using a camera phone. Here's what I wore yesterday...my sky blue inner, black polka dot Tommy Hilfiger tie.
