I knew I was going to get hate for the tie.

The tie doesn't inspire as strong an emotion as "hate", and it looks well enough in context, but I can understand why it's not your favorite tie.

I didn't bother to throw it over my shoulder at the urinal this morning.

Smalto shot silk suiting at the Polo, recently. You should have seen some of the other outfits:

By the way, this dogmatic 'NO LOAFERZ WITH A SUIT' **** is dumb. It's all pretty subjective, so getting all snide and catty and being mean to a guy because he's alleviating himself of some dated sartorial punctilio is silly. Who the **** died and made you captain of the loafer police?

How about instead of a categorical and definitive declaration that says 'never', say something like 'there is evidence to suggest that it isn't a tradition/convention', or 'personally, I feel that there is limited applicability for loafers in business dress' or even 'in my opinion, loafers are not appropriate'.

Or just say "I don't like the loafers" and leave that **** at that.

I see it everyday around here too, but I still don't think that makes it right. If lots people started wearing sneakers with a business suit would that make it right?

And the rest of you - you are all wrong, read this and check the link for the complete story:

What accounts for this legendary status? Well, it's a top-quality, comfortable shoe of elegance and proportion, to be sure. But Bob Clark has come up with what is perhaps the best answer: "It's the versatility. For half a century now it's been an appropriate choice for both the boardroom and the country club. It lends respectability to the army of lawyers and lobbyists who pervade our corridors of power, and serves as a symbol of elegance and the good life for successful professionals and businessmen." And who should know better. *

Screw any rules, old or new. Loafers are ugly and should not be paired with a suit. They used to say don't do it because it's ugly and one is formal and the other is not. The real reason: it looks stupid.

Loafers are now accepted with suits, your opinion is that it looks ugly, which is fine, but it's an opinion - and that is a fact.

"Here you look like anderson silva."

I can't quite see it, but Google Image Search shows me that he's even more averse to wearing clothes than I am
