What's with the tie bar, its really not working in this outfit.
It is my soul that is crooked, not my eyes.
Not feeling that tie although it''s a pleasant shirt color.
That's not the correct way to measure jacket length, despite it being commonly held on this forum and others. Inasmuch as there is a 'correct' way, it has much more to do with the proportion of the jacket in relation to the whole body and how far the bottom edge of the jacket comes down over the buttocks and thighs. In general, so long as the jacket covers the gluteal folds (where the buttocks meet the thighs (which is about the same as testical height, as Spoo points out), this is acceptable in classic men's style*. Anything beyond this is a subjective aesthetic choice, house style, or some function of the particular design. (*If you're a mod, you might have a different opinion, but there's a reason mod jackets became known in Britain as 'bum-freezers'!)
Not my greatest although I love the orange shirt with white collar/cuffs. I am having the shirt slightly altered this week as the collar is slightly big. Sorry about the angle of the photo..had to take it with the front facing camera haha.
I have really long legs, arms, and balls so this is all working against me.
I feel what you are trying to do here, TKE, but I feel you take some of the elements of your fits a bit too far into the "business" range when the rest of the elements are very casual (and usually well done and well thought out!). I would wear, at the most, a navy knit tie with this. The white looks like a huge white space in an otherwise colorful shirt. I can understand why you use a tie bar as well (add a bit of panache and polish to the fit) but I feel they look best with a jacket and maybe even slighly off center. You do very well with the limitations of your work dress code, however.
I guess what I am trying to say is, with sport shirts and the like, I would only wear a knit tie if you have to wear a tie for work. Anything else tends to look incongruent. I think knit ties would also go very well with your sweaters (which again, are usually well done but sometimes paired with very business-y ties).
Hope this helps and doesn't come off as overly critical, we are likely about the same age so I like to see peers dressing well!
Happy Humpday everyone.
crusty, i cant recall many pics of you in such a light colored suit, it looks great on you. makes you look younger and brighter. kudos.
i dont doubt this is all true, but its still what gives the impression that his jacket is a tad short, even if technically its not.
So many great things to say about this look
1 thing that seems to be an issue with all of your recent looks Victor is the collar curl. Maybe some metal collar stays can remedy that
