1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Love the suit but I think you would be better served with a tie that was more rustic and less shiny, it would be more consistent with the rest of the outfit.

Seems like this could use some pattern to break up all that acreage of solids.

Yeah, I am just lazy today. Agree on both counts. My small-timer tie collection needs some cashmeres and wools. I actually ditched the tie for the afternoon and have a purple checked scarf wrapped around me instead.

    So sad to leave...

Probably the last outing for this suit. After being told repeatedly here that the jacket is too short on me, I've finally realized you're all right.

    [IMG] [IMG]

It's hard to tell how short it is with your hands in your pockets like that! Looks like great material though, and I really like the fit in general.

I'd say he looks like an FBI agent, but FBI agents don't dress that well.

(absolutely rock solid...gives one hope that this will be a good week for the sartorial arts)

    Solid work there Mike

I believe that I owe an apology to anyone who was expecting to see a variety of photo postings, and insightful criticisms or comments in this thread today. Had I any idea that my posting would have engendered the invective that it did, I most certainly would not have posted it, or not couched in the words that I used to describe it.

To those of you who said words in my defense (not necessarily in defense of my fit today) - thank you. To those who criticized my fit - you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. To those who sought merely to use my posting today as an excuse for invective - I would call upon you to be ashamed, but know that you are most likely shameless.

Needless to say, I shall not post here tomorrow, as neither the weather nor my social calendar warrant wearing good clothes. When I shall next post remains to be seen, but I shall post again - I may be sensitive to criticism, but I am more adamant to not being bullied.

Anyone congratulate you yet about your appearance in the SS11 Allen Edmonds catalogue? I was just flipping through it yesterday and bam, saw your pic! Nicely done and congrats.
    ....
hmmm, sounds like there's basically two schools of thought here. A) Post a pic of what you're wearing every day, just to sort of to share with everyone. If it's bad people will pick at it, if it's good, people will compliment and ask for details. Ie quantity. B) Post a pic if it's interesting. It's pointless to post boring fits of what you're wearing every day. This is about being inspired and inspiring others, so take the time and effort to post and comment if it's really good and you think others will want to see, or if you know it's not good but need advice/help. ie quality, or low quality but with an intention for feedback. My 2 cents is I prefer camp B, but it doesn't bother me that much either way. What I can say is that I often scroll through this thread page after page of just everyday fits, and it's like one in ten where I actually stop and think 'interesting...' and save it as something to emulate.

^ I dont know... eyebrows raised, wedding band seemingly absent.. The pieces to the puzzle might be forming.. [IMG] upr_crust - FWIW, good fits or bad, I enjoy your posts, and your preambles to them. There is so much more to this board than nitpicking collargaps (thanks for ignoring mine today, SF) and sleevelengths. Its a little more escapist for me than that - and I presume some others too. Dont leave.

Because it's not about posting a bad fit. It's about posting a fit everyday and staying honest. I think a good likeness would be someone who has an emphasis for personal fitness posting their workout results everyday. He could record them on his own, but making them public keeps him honest.

That's something I respect about Upr_Crust - he's willing to do the good days and the bad.

i disagree with the analogy. the problem is posting fits you know are bad. using your analogy, it is like posting a workout routine you know is inadequate/poor - the natural reaction will be for folks to rail on you for slacking/slipping. i truly still cant see the value in posting a bad fit you know is bad. unless you are expecting people to say it is good to surprise/deceive you. if you know a fit is poor and you post it, expect to get some/lots of flack for it.

    B) It's pointless to post boring fits of what you're wearing every day. I agree, but will add that I don't even think posting everyday is bad, if the said poster thinks he is posting a good fit ... or a fit he is unsure about, for which he is soliciting feedback.

    ...

i do not think the criticism leveled was either violently insulting or abusive. You were more critical of yourself (in your words - load of shit, which it probably is) than most of us have been. you expected the criticism, and suddenly you turn melodramatic.

don't be so darn sensitive UC.

Look, don't post a fit if you know it sucks. I have never posted a fit that I thought was bad. Every fit I posted, I have thought was worthy of being shared, on some level. Sure, some I think are better, or worse, than others...but I would not put up a shit fit knowing it sucked.

    Good to see you back!

    Awesome.

How about this? Why don't you post some pictures of yourself? Until then, shut the fuck up.

    Mike

I knew there was a reason (aside from your good looks) why I liked you.

I know my opinion doesn't mean jack-shit to anyone here, but as someone who is strangely addicted to this thread and checks it out every day....I enjoy EVERYONE'S (well, okay, some more than others, but that has to do with my hormones and the occasional asshole attitude more than anything else) pics and don't give a rat's ass if someone posts pics daily, or if their fits are pretty consistent. What is wrong with guys just enjoying sharing what they are wearing? (and for crap's sake, there are newbies lurking every day, why deny them the pleasure of pics from someone like Crusty just because someone feels he should be "done" now?)

The title of the thread is "What are you wearing right now", not "What are you wearing right now that is atrocious enough for us to pick to bits and feel superior about". I LIKE the fact that some of the guys just plain enjoy posting their fits. I am sure someone will tell me "That isn't what the thread is for". Fine, then....someone please start a thread so that anyone can post their fits just for the hell of it, for all of the guys who want to enjoy that. (And for moi, as this is the only porn I have in my life, thankyouverymuch).
