Bottom of the lapels are no good, but as PB said maybe can be tweaked. The rest is very nice though, especially the shoulder.

The lapels are a deal breaker for me, but it fits well otherwise.

Keep it or dump it guys? (If I keep it, I'd obviously have it tweaked [sleeves, potentially waist])

Not in love with the lapels. But, equally bothersome is where the sleeve meets the shoulder seems "pointy". I cannot envision this coat worn unbuttoned. Dump.

What's wrong with pointy shoulder seams? Admittedly it doesn't work at all within the context of whatever those lapels are, but I usually like that kind of seam.

Edit: sorry, 'roping,' my MC vocabulary sucks.

I agree. The back of the coat is always telling. Is the "seat" covered? That is more reliable than using the thumb theory IMO.

Pointy shoulders? They are roped, ya n00bz. Not everybody likes natural shoulders.

In my opinion these are some rather remarkably fitting roped shoulders?

Thanks for the feedback. A more structured shoulder (roped, in this case) seems more fitting for black tie. The lapels were what worried me, not the shoulders.

Yes, roped. But, still not taken with it.

Though roped, this ain't too bad

These are classic shawl lapels. Looks fine. Put on a cummerbund and a bow tie and you'll be good to go.

Those lapels look like a horse yoke. Dump.

There is no "wrong" shape per se for roll lapels and nearly every variant can be found, but the one you have mimics the lines of a formal vest. That's why it looks off, like a black formal vest with sleeves.

Saw the same thing yesterday on a guy in the elevator. A 3 button black suit!
