Is the Southern Med side of my heritage showing? :)

The thought behind the suggestion was that your top regular button still seems quite high up, so you could afford to undo another without revealing an egregious amount of chest. If going open collar I quite like the collar to echo the v of the jacket lapels, which often means undoing a second button of the shirt. Depends a bit on the exact jacket/shirt combo, and the climate of course too.

We're more or less wearing the same colours/patterns today, so how can I not like this :)

If only your shirt had a normal collar... :p

Personally I don't think the sleeves are too short. My issues are more with the buttoning point/length/pants rise, which can't really be altered. It doesn't look terrible. If you like it, enjoy it! I'd just suggest maybe waiting a bit before going and getting 2-3 more similar suits to see if you still like the fit/silhouette after living with it for longer and seeing other silhouettes on SF and blogs, etc
Thanks for the response, I'm wondering if your terrible means that it's above average compared to the average joe. Or terrible means its terribly fitting...

Where's the oversized dog? With a look like this, you need a wingman.

I like everything except the placement of the pants, which look to be hiked up a little too high.
