No, the break line of the lapel is the lapel line against the shirt. That's the line you set the collar to.

I don't mean these two lines need to be exactly parallel but close to parallel is better. When something looks off in the chest shoulder area it is often related to this.

Not to impose BU, can you change the lines to see the difference?

What looks off to my eye is the sleeve to shoulder angle is at an angle but the chest from armhole down is practically vertical. The jacket needs more chest and a nice shape to the chest. That would make the waist look like he has a waist without tapering. Would also draw the eye to the upper body, chest and shoulder. That's a good thing.

These lines are what you were looking at (in part)

edit - there is some non-parallelism here. I could also see that you might be able to freely change the width of the lapel during cutting without imposing too much shift here.

The lapel width/shape/line is irrelevant to what we are discussing. To make the lines more parallel I would increase the chest at the bottom of the line along the sleeve.

I think he means he would let out the chest at the bottom half of the arm hole seam. This would rotate the arm hole line counter-clockwise and bring it parallel with the lapel line. I think.
