I'm so glad you posted this, because it addresses precisely what I didn't like about the otherwise very good fit, and was going to post along those lines myself, along with a big [IMG] icon given all the praise it has gotten. The suit is just too slim-fitting, making it somewhat lacking in, well, I suppose grace is the best word. Your suggested alterations should fix that nicely! Nice display of critical insight.

You need to ease into it real fast bud. You say you run a law firm and you look like that!! :embar:

You need to check out someone like ctp120 in the last 2 pages for inspiration, or better, print his pics out and take them to your tailor, tell him you want to look like that.

FWIW it doesn't matter if no one else at lunch was wearing a pocket square. You should be, and also be leading the way.

    Let's see some passion!!

'ease into this slowly' - I mean really, from a guy like you.

Why does he need a pocket square? I like them, but I don't think everyone else must.

And, unless you also run a law firm, I doubt that he would be well served by substituting your judgment for his own regarding the appropriateness of a square in his professional context.

Pretty sure I wouldn't bother with custom if I could get fit like that off the rack. I am green with envy, sir. Covet, covet, covet...

Thanks for your comments. Sides are an easy fix, but I'm a little concerned as to whether there's enough outlet in the sleeves. My alterations tailor is pretty good, but then again I've never had him let sleeves out before, which seems like it could require a lot more skill to do properly.

The OTR sportcoat is older, and they've since updated the model, thus the need for MTM to try and reproduce the old fit. As you can see, it was less than perfectly successful. I'm still pretty happy with it overall, especially if the alterations I mentioned turn out well.

More likely the loose shirt collar is the culprit. Need some collar experimentation. Generally, it's a passable look - usually we're not posing.

Well, the babysitter could not work last night, so we went out to celebrate NYE last night. I think I am going to carry on that tradition every year, as I saved probably about $1500 in unnecessary charges, 3 hours in traffic, and no trouble with reservations. Tonight, I stay in my jammies with a cozy blanket and a bottle of Dom on my couch. Happy New Year all!
