HF - thanks for the comment. I agree on the collars. This was a new shirt fresh out of the box, with a couple of launderings the shirt should end up higher....
Sunday in South Carolina
Funny you should mention the Poynter Sisters. That just happens to be my nickname for unrefinery's avatar.
ok ok.... thanks for the feedback. I was wearing THAT tie b/c it was a semi-formal holiday event... so it was meant to be a bit whimsical given I was wearing the black suit ( I know, I know black suit, but it is night time and I'm going to the symphony) and the shoes, point taken. Aside from that! why are so many so offended? Ironically, the positive comments (and there are some) concerning the tie knot, pocket square, shirt collar etc. have all been PM'd to me...thanks to both.
This morning, I wore my newly received "Slim Walt Trouser Pale Grape Herringbone" trousers from Epaulet. I love the fabric and the slim, sleek fit. Fantastic pair of trousers!
But, the color, "pale grape", is difficult (for me) to match. With a white shirt, a navy blue sweater or tie didn't look quite right. I wore a solid purple tie, and that wasn't quite right either. Perhaps burgundy or "Sarum" blue? Light blue? Here are some pics. In real light, the color is much, much lighter that appears on the pic. The third pic shows the trouser with a purple/charcoal check shirt. Your advice, gents, is welcome.

The tie and the shoes don't really work because they're conflicting with the "three piece suit" notion. The three piece is more of a classic, elegant look, while the shoes and tie are casual and modern (and not the best in general). I'd stick to a more classic tie, tied with four in hand for a smaller knot, and some lace up shoes for more formality.
Out of curiosity, who makes the suit?
Thanks. I bought the material in England but had the suit made by Peter Lee (Baron) in Hong Kong. Shirt is Jantzen.
Oh ok. Other than the high button stance, the suit looks pretty good. The shoulders look well done.
They already have names: Trinidad and Tobago.
We're all kinds of international up in this jawn.
Time to break out the polo coat.
Brooks Brothers by Lock fedora
Rothman polo coat
Venanzi wool pocket square
Nettleton shell longwings
I added more photos because some of you wanted to see the shirt with the scarf over it. Enjoy
Other than the shoes and the tie, this would look perfectly acceptable for a boardmeeting. The thing is, this was for the opera, and you could've been more trendy. I'd say you could have worn a slimmer suit with shorter pants and a shorter jacket.
Kudos on the watch.
^ thanks for the comments CDHagg.... here is out to dinner tonight.
