For once, I agree with this sort of sweeping statement. I almost never do, historically, but there are a few seriously awful looks over the past few pages. Horrid colours, ill-chosen patterns and dreadful fit/silhouette choice for people's physiques. I'm usually the last person to say something like this, but after this thread had quite a good end to the working week, the weekend (with a couple of notable exceptions like DerekS' 3pc look) has been disappointingly poor. I had a bad dress w/end too, but at least only in the casual thread, and I knew it was bad but was too casual to care and only posted it for lulz. Hmm, maybe I'm just grouchy because it's Monday. Now that I've made myself a target, I suspect I'll be slated today - esp. in this quite retro-styled suit - but still, it had to be said! :D

The matching-apart-from-scale tie/square is deliberate. I leave it to you to judge effectiveness.
HF, I think a bigger knot on the tie and it's all win. Since you wore a vest you could have done a no-no with the tie and hidden the skinny blade.
Not feelin that shirt brosef and you needed a thicker knot with the height of the collar.
Like this look on you Neo.

The suit is great. I would have preferred a wider collar and I think the chain/pocket watch is "trying too hard."

I only do this for looks I like, but have one or two small things that would make a difference, because I think that's the type of feedback that has most bang-for-my-buck.

For the more major stuff, people who want to look better have a basic responsibility just to compare what their photos look like v. their mind's-eye image of their ideal self. If they're already where they want to be, they have no need to feel at all slighted by my comment upthread, as it becomes irrelevant to their needs. Most of these big issues are amenable to just looking, anyway, and being self-critical, and I'm not going to spoon-feed someone through that on there as it's a) time-consuming, b) boring, and c) not what I want to do with my leisure time.

That's interesting; I was VERY tempted to do exactly that. In the end I opted for the skinny knot/big collar contrast. It's something I saw elsewhere a few weeks ago and wanted to experiment with it.

Wider as in bigger, or in terms of the spread? If the former, it's a pretty big collar for my features already I think; more would be too large. In terms of spread, I can picture that working, almost as a way of ramping the formality level of the contrast shirt even higher, echoing the retro suit. Having said that, I get all my smarter shirts cut with the same collar shape so it's easy to mix & match them to different looks. In an ideal world, I can definitely see what you're saying though.

Personally I think on this gnatty fit:

1) peak lapels don't work with this fabric. Too much clash between the formality of peaks and informality of the fabric.
2) micro-patterns between jacket and shirt are clashing.
3) Tie and PS colors don't go well with jacket and shirt.

Trade out the shirt for a solid or pinpoint light blue, swap in a wool or cashmere necktie and a navy paisley PS, and things would be much improved IMHO.

This looks pretty good, though I think your shirt collar is too skimpy. Who made the jacket?

I love the suit too. But I'd also ditch the pocketwatch and reinforce your skepticism regarding the tie/PS combo. White linen would be a signficant improvement IMHO.

I like the colors and textures, but in addition to the collar being small, the laps are too narrow and the buttoning point too high IMHO. Especially compared to the patch pockets, the lapels are disappearing.

Agree re: collar. I can barely fit a tie through it, and the points don't sit quite right when it's buttoned. But I like the fabric! Jacket is Black Fleece

The nature of many/most Black Fleece jackets. Although I agree the scale isn't ideal, I'm OK with it.

Nice try neighbour. What about Omega, Longines or Tissot? :smarmy: BTW I personally know a lot of Christian ministers and many of them really work hard for people around the world. You don't need to understand Russian to see what this man are doing for street children in Ukraine among the corrupt system where the Police cover the drugs traffic. Lets see this movie and do something like this and after you could speak about Jesus and Rolex and so on.
