Thanks. I've been following your progress as well. You are correct about the shirt collar. Almost all of my current shirt rotation is either a wider spread or button down. I was dismayed when I checked the mirror before leaving for the day, only to notice that I had chosen one of the last of my shirts that is a point collar and is scheduled to be replaced.

I came here asking for help and would have to be an idiot to fling it back into the teeth of those who freely offer it. Perhaps the "hissy fitters" came here with a different purpose in mind, expecting high praise for their fits and were disappointed at the reaction. I continue to confidently post with trepidation, if such is even possible!

I have to agree, but I think it is entirely down to the style and proportions of the beard. I really like NYR's style in general. So I had a look back at older fits NYR posted, and when he had a trimmer beard, it worked a lot better. Now, unlike some people here, I have nothing against beards at all and believe it or not, I have friends with even bigger beards. So I am not suggesting that NYR get rid of the beard, but I am suggesting that he think about controlling it a bit, thinking about its proportions and style. See TTO as an example, or Barims recently. When beards get to this size, here is almost as much to styling facial hair as there is to clothes. If NYR doesn't have the time or the inclination then perhaps trimming it down would work better.

I am curious as the rationale for your change to spread and button-down collars over the forward point. I think the forward point looks good in the picture you posted.

Agreed. Not even a 19th century prospector would sport such a moronic beard.
    Fantastic color and texture combination.

Between your jacket, shirt, tie and square, I think you've got too many small-scale patterns and textures going on. At least two elements should be either closer to true solid or much bolder in pattern.

Hah! It's that damned clunky Rolex. I love it to death and wear it no matter what but my shirt cuff catches on it every time! OTOH, I like your opinion of why it's hiding, better.

I prefer the collar points to tuck in at the jacket lapels. It just looks tidier to me.

The forward point in the picture is a Brooks Brothers non iron slim fit that I thrifted (in my size!) in an effort to home in on the best shirt/collar/maker/etc. for my needs. It has gone from "Most Favored Nation" status to "Terrorist State" in just a few short months and as such is USUALLY relegated to emergency wear only when the laundry is not done. I had it placed incorrectly in my closet and grabbed it in error.

I see your point although I think it overall works very well in a sort of country meets city kinda way...

This seems to be a preoccupation of yours; I understand the rationale but, on balance, this all seems to gel together, as the poster below says...

Could the shirt be changed to a solid blue? Sure. But IMO the real offender here is the creamy dotty handkerchief. Change that and the rest is fine. I liked this picture a lot, actually. Tattersall with gun club is actually an interesting combination in practice.
