There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I am unpinning this topic as it is linked into the HOF Glossary / Best posts thread now and I'd like to clear up the top of the board as much as possible.

I have been given many men's suits for our Christian Men's Job Corps. How do I measure them to determine the size

Eaglegroup, measure as shown in the first post on this topic, across the underarms of the jackets. Generally, double the underarm measurement and subtract 2-4 inches and you could call that the chest size of the jacket.

    Giving this thread a bump...

Is there a chart somewhere here that outline general suit measurements?

    For example: For size 40R - chest = 44"; shoulder = 17.75-18.5"; jacket length = 30"

    Thanks.

What about the size of the armpit hole? What is the best way to find if the armpit will fit?

This is a fantastic resource, thank you. Finally I feel confident to wet my toes a little and make an online suit purchase.

As an extremely satisfied customer of yours it comes as no surprise of your excellent, to the point treatise on clothes measurements.

Can't wait to do more business w/you.

I went to use this guide and there were no pictures, so I went and found them and edited the original post to update the pics.

This thread used to be VERY helpful once.. until pictures were removed..
Just a gentle reminder.. to host them on another server.

Hi, this thread came up in a search I did on how to measure a suit. Like the poster mentioned above, the pics aren't loading. Does anyone have an alternative link for the original post by Mr Harris?

What we don't need to know is the underarm measurement of a coat or jacket, and yet that is so often given instead of the sleeve to cuff length.
