I just ordered these off Yoox, largely because I kind of was digging the look, but I have never heard of HLS and I'm concerned the quality is crap:

Anyone know anything about HLS?

Haha I was looking at those the other day as well

I might've even picked them up on impulse if they were in my size. Not familiar with HLS so I'd also be interested in hearing how you make out with those.

When are you due to receive them?

I picked the slow free shipping, so probably not for a few days at least.

Well, received the boots today, which was surprisingly fast turnaround time. The box says Hogarth Manufattora Italiana, for what it's worth.... The boots themselves are branded HLS inside and Hogarth on the sole.

For $108 I have to say they are pretty damned good. Leather quality is respectable and construction appears to be okay. They are somewhat antiqued out of the box but I plan on adding some additional antiquing and maybe taking the color a little darker. Overall I really like the look of these and I'm not disappointed by the quality in the slightest. They will be perfect for kicking around in in situations where I wouldn't want to wear my C&J handgrade boots -- clubs, heavy drinking nights, kicking people's asses, whatever.

Size may be a little tricky.... I am normally a 10.5, sometimes a 10, depending on the last, and I ordered a 10 here and they came out on the roomy side, but the last is somewhat elongated and pointy.

Nice - glad that worked out for you! How do you plan to make the colour darker? I'm very interested as this is something I've wanted to try with a few of my brown shoes/boots.

Applying a couple layers of darker brown shoe cream (especially in certain strategic areas to give an antiqued look) coupled with a good waxing generally does the trick.

Some people even mix in a bit of black shoe cream with the dark brown, but that can be risky.
