Anyways, the point is that docs were the cool shoes to have back when I was in high school, and I am sure there is a current "it" shoe out there. I would say stay away from steve madden though, as most of the styles look tacky, and they will DEFINATELY fall apart on you.

my black eitght-eye Docs are seventeen years old and still going.

Hate to break it to you, but you'll hardly ever see anyone in Cali dressed like that, except maybe at a Beach Boys convention heh

hate to break it to you, wilson brother, but that "california style" you've been posting about, specially the beach boys get-up has ran its course if it did had a course back then. people in california actually dress up the same as the rest of america now. (maybe except for the hollywood types)

It really has gone downhill. My friend's boots' AirWare sole thingy popped after the first day of wearing. They fixed it at the shoe store, but it broke again. He ended up just getting better boots. Mine were the limited edition exposed steel toe ones, and the laces were terrible quality, the insole didn't last a month, and generally there's tons of flaws in the stitching and construction. I think the "in" shoes right now are mostly sneakers. They have been as long as I've been in school, anyways. A few years ago there was a huge revival of Chuck Taylors at my school and others. I naturally got a pair since I've never owned any. I was pretty pleasantly surprised trying them on. They don't hurt my feet and are pretty light. They're a classic sneaker that definitely warrant the price, though their durability could be improved a bit. (inside heel cup canvas rubbed off after a few months). Anyways, I kinda got beside myself. Glad that your Docs are holding up well.
