+1 Dafoe and Malkovich are two of my favorite actors and this is some of their best work.

    The boys (Aust)
Thank god he met Lizzie (Aust)
    The war zone (UK)
    Slums of beverly hills (US)

And so many others ... I think Gattaca is underrated, though hardly obscure.

L"Homme Qui Amait Les Femmes (the original The Man Who Loved Women, much better than Alfie)

Someone Behind The Door (Anthony Perkins and Charles Bronson in a tour-de-force character study)

The Long Run (much, much better than the movie about that self-centered twat Prefontaine)

    Just went through my movies:

+1 on Galaxy Quest, Mystery Men, and Dewey Cox

    What Planet Are You From
    The Thin Red Line
    On Her Majesties Secret Service
    Pleasantville
    A Life Less Ordinary
    Confidence
    Eurotrip
    Frailty
    King Of New York
    Logan's Run
    Observe and Report
    Ravenous
    Repo Man
    Romeo Is Bleeding
    Slither
    Street Smart
    The Caveman's Valentine
    The Eiger Sanction
    The Lookout
    Angel Heart
    Cronos
    Exorcist II: The Heretic
    Mannequin
    Matchstick Men
    Mr. Baseball
    Night of the Creeps
    Reckless Kelly
    Summer Lovers
    Supernova
    The Boys From Brazil
    The Chase
    The Seige
    UHF
    The New World
    Vision Quest

Some really good ones there, but I'd say some of them are pretty well known, like Pleasantville, Logan's Run, Repo Man, Exorcist II, The Boys from Brazil. But I have to ask: UHF? Seriously? I'm a Weird Al fan, and I even have that movie, but it's not a particularly GOOD movie.

Some are more unknown, some are more underrated. Some are both. I didn't bother to categorize them or I'd have been at it all night.

God, I haven't thought of Prime Cut in years.

For an unknown, twisty Elliot Gould thriller (trust me) try a Canadian film called The Silent Partner.
