Did you guys see the final Highlander movie, The Source? In a post-apocalyptic world, humans are cannibals and the last Highlanders, yes including Mythos, rush to a God/Source and a very jaded Duncan and his wife achieve what we thought could never happen?

The original doesn't hold up for me, perhaps soured by so many awful sequels; an even stronger case for stopping after 1 film than The Matrix franchise. I liked the tv series more.

Still part of the pop-culture consciousness, though - who doesn't recognize "There can be only one"? It's up there with "I'll be back" and "Two men enter, one man leaves."

Laddie, of the 80s and only sci-fi? Nay, one of the greatest movies ever made and proof that Scots are the master race!

Yes, yes, Scots are not a race. Pull the broomstick out of your arse!

You can't forget about the other reason why Highlander is enshrined in the 80's Sci-Fi Hall of Fame:

OJFC, Highlander is not effing scifi. It's an effing fantasy action movie.

Having said that, it's one of the best fantasy action movies of all time. The Queen soundtrack is unbeatable.

There can be only one.

You're talking to somebody who just calls it all SF (speculative fiction). I only called it Sci-fi for convenience's sake and not to confuse it with SF (StyleForum).

Just remembered one more to go with it:

Also, a lovely tribute found on Alaska in Winter's Holiday album:

Highlander part 1:

And when the dawn comes to light we must say goodbye to another life gone from mine and I still stand by holding you dying in arms... she's dying in my arms, dying in my arms

On my grave, light a candle on my birthday oh please remember me my dear,

And I wish I could go with you my dear, but I won't die in million years...
...years disappear, always growing old my dear like a setting sun, and now my time has come
To die, I'll pass you by, so soon I'll out live you...
...you, will always know this day when your lover fades away.

Highlander part 2:

And now, we are so old, yet we will never die, and we'll live till the end of time cause we're the immortal kind, all life long we'll never weep cause we roll forty thousand deep

But I don't want to live forever no matter where it is
I don't want to live forever no matter where it is

No, I won't go cause I'd rather fade away

Live forever...etc.... we are immortal

but we are young and we will never die.

I loved the movie, Connor's sword room is the ****! But being the best 80's sci-fi movie? That's really hard to choose. There is no doubt that there were many great 80's sci-fi moves made. The TV series was far superior and will live with me forever as one the best TV series ever made.
